Russel Barkley is such an important voice, and he has done far more than most to get adhd recognised as the serious disability it is. I believe his brother who had adhd and who was very impulsive died in a car crash, which has no doubt reinforced his view of the seriousness of adhd. I hadn't seen the video you describe, I shall have to watch it. I'm actually surprised at just how much some adhd advocates have embraced the NDM - such as one of the UK's adhd charities (ADHD Foundation) which has gone so far as to call itself 'The Neurodiversity Charity'. It seems utterly counterproductive because adhd is already treated with a great deal of scepticism in society and often not taken seriously, so adopting the NDM paradigm which itself trivialises disorders and presents them as neutral neurotypes is hardly going to help.
