Find us on Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/... Empires of the undergrowth is a simulation strategy ant colony game - excavate your nest and engage in RTS battles with large insects, arachnids and other colonies
wow I never expected a game that revolves around a bunch of insects would be decent almsot any game insect related are so shitty yours is so different its actually goodf
I've got to admit, I'm rather impressed by this trailer and curious as to how this game will turn out in the long run. Ants today, tomorrow, who knows?
There should be an open-world sandbox mode where you can only be one type of ant instead of a ton of different ants in a single colony. That way you have to weigh the positives and negatives and live with whatever decision you make.
+DarkChieftain of Ireland We have been putting some thought into this, we agree it would be great though we want to focus on one solid core game experience first
I got the demo today and I LOVE IT! Will you be able to go above ground soon, because most people are wondering. Thanks for making this game and I know it will have a great future! Keep up the good work!
Always learning. EotU 2016: We are conceptual but this is what we'd like to do EotU Now: We are focusing on a smaller number of things well rather than a larger number of things badly
This could have so much potential. Will buy if it reaches a release The models could be a bit better imo. Here 2:38 etc. The big beetle also looks a bit boring
Hi Max and thanks. We know it needs improvement and we are doing so at the moment working on a new demo. Much of the underground has received an overhaul in graphics, the models are next on the list. The titan beetle is just one of the large creatures planned. Find us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates.
this seems........AWESOME. I am an ant keeper and this game appeals to me a LOT. I agree with your decision of putting the mobile version on hold, so you can work on the main game more. hopefully this game will be a huge success and not Fail like antsimulator...... anyways looking forward to play this game!
+UVGaming Actually it isn't unrealistic. Wood ants can form super colonies comprised of many queens and split off to form satellite colonies. The colonies have been known to share their food stores when their friends are in need.
You are right, ants of different species working together is quite unrealistic. There is a made up ant in the game that is able to assimilate other species - so you can have multiple types in one colony
It's a demo for now - the game is in active development. You can download the demo from IndieDB or Gamejolt. www.indiedb.com/games/empires-of-the-undergrowth/downloads/
You can download the demo now! The game will be entering early access in the summer. www.indiedb.com/games/empires-of-the-undergrowth/downloads/eotu-win64-underground-demo-0064/
i have a really good question i really like your game and when you introduced multiplayer me and my friend was wondering if there could be a co-op mode for example me and him could share the same colony but if that doesn't work than if there could be a clan type of mode so we can share the same troops or something PLEASE PLEASE make this a reality BTW love your game :D and i am a RU-vidr (a really bad one) but i wanted to play this but i only have a mac :( i am getting a windows in summer :D
The earlier versions of the game never worked on any PCs apart from our own ones! We abandoned the bespoken engine and started using Unreal Engine 4 and things were much more compatible.
+Slug Disco I think you should not be able to just born new Ant species but insted have to either make allies take theire eggs or kidnap the queen to start a new species of ant
OMG i forgot pls Slug Disco add the green ant pls i beg you and add the dinosaur ant pls i beg you guys PLS! *And your game rocks i want to play it and i am so excited when the full game comes out*
Sorry for the wall of text! alright so i love ant games and have been trying to find some for a long time now on and off (talking 10+years), this gets close to what ive wanted and in a perfect world you would have all the funding you need. but recently my usual pc broke so i started looking for small games or browser based things and found this and it didnt work on the laptop i was borrowing at the time (4gb ram, 2 core cpu), ive just tested it out after getting my pc back up and running and its alright (only played first mission on the demo) it felt decent but to be honest i think you have gone too far with the design, its actually pretty difficult to find a decent ant colony game but ive never considered graphics a necessity for games like this, and while saying that i found this game while i was on a temp computer with low specs and i probably never would have found it if not for being on that low spec computer, and as i said it couldnt play it at all, infact the main menu wasnt even visible, it was all green and it took me a few goes to even notice the start button *running at less than 1 fps) so while i respect your drive for quality i think you are massively limiting your player base for what is currently (as of only playing the first mission) a very simple game. its sad but lets be honest, most people with high end pc's dont look for indie/mini games and while i love ant games and always have its still a niche genre so you cant expect much interest to begin with. i would say make default graphics options much much lower( if possible) (it defaulted on high for the laptop it wouldnt work on, yet still didnt work on low, took me literally minutes to change it at that fps) TLDR: graphics are too fancy for a game of this calibre/genre even though i respect it, it limits playerbase too much.
