Got a care job with an unpent conviction. Was told I couldn't... I did. Don't let a conviction stop you doing what you want just speak to employer.

Hi, I have worked in sport and recreation for many years. I do know that those positions are exempt from the rehabilitation of offenders act requiring total disclosure, employers usually request periodic enhanced DBS checks. Understandable as you're working with children and young persons.

I'm looking to go into security what sort of criminal offences stop u getting a sia badge. Because I'm 42 had I got done for gbh when I was 18 or 19 I got a 12 month good behaviour. But at 24 I was married to someone that end up abusing me and playing games with the cops and I got arrested for domestic abuse and I got a 12 month good behaviour plus anger management for 1year plus 1year probation. When my ex wife coursed all of this. From when I was 24. And I been good ever since than would all that stop me getting a sia licence because all that happened when I was 24 now I'm 42. Would that show up on a dbs standard check ? Any advice

Hi thanks for the vid. Will a suspended sentance come up on a dbs check and should i declare it prior to a job start please?
@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions
If it's considered spent it wont. Basically dependent on what its for and how long the spent period is it definitely wont pop up on a dbs check but theoretically will if its unspent

Contact 'Unlock' or 'St. Giles Trust' for full guidance. They will be able to fully advise you for free and if necessary, help you with how to deal with disclosing your convictions when applying for jobs. New legislation came into force in November 2019 meaning some more minor sentances will be cleared from a DBS after a certain length of time. If there is still something on your DBS and you are asked about convictions when applying for jobs, it's very unwise to lie and say 'no', it may well have reprecussions which aren't worth it. Much better to be upfront and also to have peace of mind. You can ask for a copy of your criminal record by contacting your local police force. I believe there is a fee for this. Don't be discouraged, there are ways to deal with applying for jobs with a criminal record. Good luck

Its probably easier to list the types of jobs you could. Construction, engineering type sector work and manual labour would be good shouts. I know of gbh convicts in construction. Theyre pretty broad industries. Other thing is your own business of course

What if the police and the judges were corrupted by racism and caused an innocent person to have criminal record? Would these be considered by the employers if the solid evidences of the corruption of the court and police forces are shown to the employers?

I know a taxi driver who stabbed someone and was imprisoned for it. He got a job no problem with a independent firm but still got through a tribunal type meeting with Bristol Council for a license. Bristol can be dangerous for a taxi driver especially when he was driving in the 80s and 90s. He went to prison. So never say never. I just never declare my criminal conviction it's 27 years ago I was self employed for 17 years doing removals so I had millions of pounds worth of stuff in my van over the years. I think if it's over 15 years and not of a violent or sexual nature it should definitely be expunged. The world is stuck in the dark ages and still believe leopards don't change their spot , it's a rubbish saying because clearly I am not a leopard I'm to fat to run at 60mph and I don't have 4 legs. Having a criminal record is like having leprosy you even get cleaners that advertise that they are criminal record checked . If someone has to clean up my 💩 then frankly they deserve a four finger discount 😆. I stole valium from a pharmacy 27 years later they diagnosed me with GAD my point is that most people aren't bad instead they make bad choices. Criminals can easily change but idiots can't and that's the difference. Education Education Education.

@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions What about minor assault?
@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions
Are we talking ABH or a Common Assault when you say minor? Both can be overlooked by employers dependent on who they are. A big HR led corporate style household name for ABH then unlikely until maybe 6 years. Many smaller companies yes though. I've employed lads who've had a fight on a saturday night, done community service etc. Prison time is trickier though

Science and engineering graduate jobs don't require an enhanced or standard dbs check apart from jobs in healthcare, the Civil Service, schools, and the defence industry. You also failed to point out the filtering law meaning you can apply for doctor, lawyer, school teacher, and finance type jobs after 11 years if you were not sentenced to a term of imprisonment and were not convicted of a very serious crime such as murder, armed robbery, rape or similar.
@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions

Those I did not know. But could have been a very long video otherwise
@user-en3jl8gv5c
@user-en3jl8gv5c 4 месяца назад
@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions So you are not a lawyer? The filtering law has been around since 2013 when Kenneth Clarke was Home Secretary. In Scotland prison sentences up to 2.5 years can be filtered after 15 years, unlike England and Wales. But like England and Wales very serious offences such as use of a gun in a crime can't be filtered.

Don't bother. It is all stacked against you. It's unforgiving and very little rehabilitation involved in it. All this bull about how long it "should" be spent is nonsense because any misdemeanour stays on your DBS forever. It never goes away. Forget work and stay on benefits. You have very little choice but to.

You must be an American because convictions in the UK are not split into misdemeanours and felonies.
