Morning! I filmed this before my most recent project pan check in, so the products I finished in that will be featured in my next empties. Have a great day xo
make sure you keep that yog nog bottle!!! idk if/when they roll it out worldwide, but in the uk they changed their recycling policy where instead of 5 black pots giving you a free face mask, bring back ANYTHING that isn't glass (or sample pots) for 50p off your total at checkout! they take these, toothy tab bottles, the shampoo/toners/etc... i mean if you cba hoarding the packaging fair enough though :)
I made the switch to reusable rounds and had same issue with nail polish removal. A couple solutions I came up with: Save cotton toner pads (the ones that come pre-soaked with active ingredients) let them dry out and cut them up for use with acetone when removing gel nail polish. They're so much easier to leave on that cotton rounds/balls. Whenever I have old clothes (tshirts mostly) that's too beat up to use/donate, I'll cut it into small squares and use them for regular nail polish removal. You won't feel guilty tossing them after using them. I thought they'd end up hard and crusty but I tried washing them and they actually ended up reusable as well--the pigment stains but they're essentially free so it's a win in either case.
I don’t tend to get cotton toner pads, and my old clothes go to home make baby wipes/cleaning rags… but I’m sure I can spare a few scraps for nail polish removal too!
Enjoying this on my day off. Sponge cleaning, I love the Daiso but there’s a tick tock where you put your dirty sponges in a bowl, hit them with the dishwashing liquid and then cover in boiling water. It works, so quick, so clean! So much so that after a year of ignoring my sponges in preference to brushes, I’m using my sponges on the daily.
I always love seeing what people use up. It truly allows you to see what they loved and didn’t like. P.S. vitamin c is rough on my skin too. I find that I can’t use it more than 2 days a week if that without causing irritation. I find that BHAs and retinol do the same thing for me without the barrier damage.
Regarding easily chipped nails: I learned from a nail art YTer to use a nail dehydrator just before applying my base coat and that's helped a lot! Also, my nails peel/split most often when they're unpolished and constantly in water. Wearing polish daily, even if it's just clear polish, helped strengthen them. (Nails don't need to "breathe.")
I turfed out a bunch of empties this morning too, I had a mini of the Brazilian Bum Bum cream and I was not sold by the hype for ages but IT SMELLS SO GOOD OMG. I got a fabulous skincare balm from Espa which is so expensive but makes my dry face feel like nothing else. I'm trying to weigh up whether to buy the full size of both because that's a lotta £££!
So grateful to you for introducing me to the concept of finding a different use for products that don't work as intended! I used to toss things that I didn't like but started getting much more creative after watching your videos. My latest foray is using a glycolic acid toner that was too strong for my face as a deoderant, which has been game-changing! I'm also using up a hair oil that was too heavy as a shaving oil on my legs. Love the channel, keep doing you!
When you mentioned the sunscreens I remembered my favorite sunscreen. It's from sunkiller, I got it from yesstyle, and while I don't care much about scents when it comes to sunscreens, this one has the nicest citrusy smell ever. I have never before looked forward to putting my sunscreen on. It's also the perfect consistency, like water, it's alcohol-free, doesn't make me look white, and sinks in easily. I love it.
I don't use micellar water because I use oily foundation, but I use it to hydrate the Cottonelle flushable wipes. Turn them upside down so the fluid keeps all of the wipes saturated.
I think SPF products are upping their formulas, because halfway through this summer (UK) I dropped my daytime moisturizer, too and my skin felt better. The Revlon candid is my current perfect shade match (fair olive here). Underrated foundation! Really good stuff, agreed. I just got a Paint Pot about a month ago and I still haven't figured out how to use it properly. My suspicion is that my eyelid-oiliness isn't compatible with it :/ which is ironic, because my holy grail is MAC 24hr pro primer :D but the paint pot dries up to balls, kind of irritates my eyelids too (just a teeny tiny bit), ends up in my crease, balls into my inner corner, sticks to my eyeshadow brush when applying eyeshadow... it feels like a horrible waste. I tried applying over the 24pro, then it just makes my eyelids heavy and enhances the wrinkles and still dries... is it my skin or me not using it right? I tried applying it with my fingertips, too on freshly hydrated eyelids, then it didn't stick at all... send help.
I'm sure you're doing this, but just in case you aren't... "cap" your nails (ie put top coat on the edges of your nails) when you do your top coat. I'm using Glisten & Glow top coat now, which is a quick dry, and I cap my nails and I now get a week out of my nails without chips. I used to chip in less than 24 hours.
Love your empties as always Kat ❤ I have the same issue with the reusable rounds and nail polish. I tried using a nail polish remover dip- twist tub which after some twist removes most polish. After like 2 months I empty it out, and refill the liquid remover. Cuts down a little of the waste 🗑
I also have very oily skin - i use a tip from an aromatherapist. I mix plain face oils with aloe vera gel to make s white gel. That way i can use oils on my face without them creating a heavy film over my own oils.
@@KitschSnitch yeah putting oils with aloe vera is the only way I can get an extra layer of hydration round my eyes - most moisturisers feel really uncomfortable there, however light they claim to be.
I love empty videos!!! I didn’t know I’d like you nog so much I only had the smallest bottle. I have the biggest one in rose jam I was hiding from my bf but he found it and didn’t tell me. Welp it’s open now lol.
I'm allergic to avobenze so I end using a lot physical sunscreens and 'universal tints' are complete shit most of the time. I'm extremely fair and they always make look like I'm wearing super dark foundation. 😂
Always enjoy your post - empty mini reviews, both luxe and drugstore. Have you tried the Curel in shower moisturizer? Also, is the Good Molecules citric powder exfoliant similar to the Amore Pacific (same concept, first on the market circa 5+yrs ago)? I only use mine sparingly and for targeted areas needing brightening. Thoughts on a sunscreen review (mineral vs chemical, etc). Cheers 😊
I haven’t tried Curel, it’s not a brand I’m familiar with and it doesn’t look like it’s available in Australia. I also haven’t tried the Amore Pacific powder either but I would assume (based on the price, claims and ingredients) that it would be A LOT better than the good molecules one. It’s even expensive than the Dermalogica one I said was better haha. So if you’re used to that, I would predict that you’d be very disappointed in the Good Molecules one haha. I have no plans on doing an SPF video, there’s a few skincare experts who have done them and I don’t feel like I can do the chemistry behind the ingredients justice haha.
I mainly bought them from David Jones. Not sure if the counter is still there, maybe it’s been closed since I’ve last been there. Otherwise I order a few bits and pieces online at places like YesStyle, but they can be more expensive
