Kirsten (& husband). Thank you so much for this. As a Brit in exile for over nearly 50 years I had forgotten this breed of Englishman, self-effacing, brilliant, non-violent, creative, sociable. How our modern world needs more of these types. This is a national treasure, as are all of your videos. Must keep spreading the word of what is essential in life. Thank you so much.
This is more than a place. It's a whole philosophy of such loving generous priorities. Blows me away. " No plan", just inventive accommodation for more family and more friends and more friends and more interests and more gatherings and wonderful places to gather. They just get it. Who wouldn't love being there for awhile or forever working on something wonderful. Well a lot of people! TG.
What an amazing family they have built out of a community they let thrive on their land. There is so much love, warmth and welcoming spirit, that is very unique to few places in the world nowadays. This is probably my favorite video you've showcased, and that's saying a lot because you have been to so many amazing places with amazing people. Blessings to Helga and Chris, and to all. ❤
How extraordinary, a small family home with all amenities, and sleeping space for 25!! If only more people were so space efficient and family orientated. Fresh handmade bread each day, and a jungle for the children....Love those giant trees behind. bliss on Earth.
1990 to 1992 I worked for Royal Mail Parcelforce, based in Aldershot and my main run was Godalming. I used to drive along the Hogs Back (A31) every morning towards Guildford, watching the scenery change throughout the seasons was stunning. you are up on a hill and at times the valley to my left would be shrouded by mist, the sunrise or sunsets amazing to see. I am absolutely certain I delivered to Wood Farm because I remember how difficult it was to find the first time I went, trying to find the route over the railway. No sat nav to help me back then! (Edit - I got my dates wrong! 92 to 94 I was at college in Reading, giving people in Godalming their parcels was my job 90 to 92.)
How wonderful, how humble, how we should all live life. Great work ethic, build what you need, people will resonate with your ethos and surround you with such a happy busy life. Thank you.
I was born in Gravesend, Kent and my Aunt and Parents used to tell me so many stories of rations and being whisked off as kids to safe areas of Britain during the bombing. What a nice trip back with this lovely man.
This is my favorite one uve done in 12 yrs! He loves his wife helga so very much and you can see the love in this place! And his memory! Omg! He needs to recount everything for his family but this love story is amazing!!!!!
Generosity beyond..a wonderful community built up over a life time..bringing joy to many who have contributed to the well being of this place of harmony ..thankyou for sharing..a lesson for many..❤
I am so thrilled I came upon your channel and had the privilege of spending 30 minutes with this delightful and charming man. I love how it just came about bit by bit and without planning. Simply amazing and civilized. 🙂
I get the most satisfying feeling of warmth and ease from Helga and Chris. Most people, myself included, seek control over their land and belongings and protect 'what's theirs' but on Wood Farm people are welcome to use the space and live there. It really is extraordinary. This vid made my day!
This is the most charming of all your videos you've made on this channel. What a lovely couple and what an enduring legacy they have built for the community they let create.
The calmness of the British language is such a delight. You understand what is being said in contrast to the sloppy versions of the language in India and the USA, where people shout the language rather than speak it.
This superb place, 25 beds, all the people that were "self-selected" to come here and add so much to this peaceful and cooperative home, in the best sense of the word! Brilliant, gentle and humble man. I have so enjoyed these videos for a number of years. I am curious and I hope you don't mind my asking, how did you, Kirsten, start out on this wonderful exploration! Thank you, as always, for finding such inspirational homes.
This is probably one of my if not my favorite video you two have made. I love this family. And he was the brains behind Swift. WOW!! I sure would love spending some time visiting here. Sounds like everyone is down to earth. My kind of people. They sold the mansion to live in a L shaped old WWII buildings. Just amazing. I noticed a a ginger jar shaped piece of Jade on one of the shelves. It's obvious he traveled a lot. I enjoyed this very much. I'll be watching it a least a few more times to see what I missed. ❤
What a paradise. Beautiful property with lots of cozy indoor space and lots of outside nature space and lots of family and friends around all the time. Who could ask for more?
Yes, but I can relate! They say the kitchen is most important for the wife and a garage for the husband, but the garden/yard is what sells a house for me. Love her Sourdough starter and goat cheese. Lovely couple, compound and life philosophy! May their children and grandchildren pass on their wisdom.
its like this other guys in the US with all those buildings but on top of that he invited others on his property. thats awesome, thanks to show us such outstanding persons again.
What an amazing cameo by that girl with the pigs. Stardom awaits her. I met her the other day. She said call me auntie K. I said why. She said you’ll see soon! And she was right. Fantastic.
Wow, I didn't want this video to end!!! Wonderfully eccentric and beautifully family/community orientated couple 💕😊. This video is your best to date, thank you.
Wow! What absolute gems this couple and friends are. So full of wonderful memories and stories, I could listen to them for hours. I think this is my new favorite from you. 💖 Thank you so much!
What a truly fascinating man. An amazing life and lifestyle he's created for himself. Such generosity of spirit. I loved how he kept saying "we civilized it." :)
Fantastic tour of the Frost compound. Every bit of the property is lovely, and the home is incredibly inviting with all of the separate yet connected spaces. A home filled with activities is very evident, yet there are also well-used chairs and books all around -- the Frosts are so interesting and full of pursuits!! Beautiful home, beautiful people.
Amazing :) I do wonder if they charge rent or just simply allow this community to use their land for free? In either case, it's great & just love the grapevine in the sun room!
How fabulous! What a perfect way to live. I love how people who come to the property are described as self selected. It just conjures up an image of “meant to be” Also I love how he refers often to buildings as becoming civilised! I had never quite thought of it that way before but when you think of it he has a point! Thank you for bringing these wonderful people and places to us.
What a marvelous home! Hypothetically, if I was offered a stately home or this jewel, I would take this house. It has so much charm, and the sun porch would be an ideal place to sit on a rainy day- out of doors, but still sheltered.
We can learn a lot from this couple and the way they've chose to live their lives. Have many guest bedrooms, bunk rooms, lofts, small cottages, etc., so that many friends and family can stay and visit for many days at a time. This sociable type of lifestyle along with Helga's farm fresh foods can lead to a healthier longer life.
Inspirational, Chris and Helga understand what is truly important in our lives, actively creating what we need and sharing it with family and friends 💜
Just wonderful, and timely for me. I am debating if I should have grand plans as I age or let things happen organically. This complex never would have turned out so well, if it was planned, "the people that arrive are... self selected" like self seeding flowers.
K: Everytime I think you have plateaued , your familial "team" raises the bar with the quality of your productions. And yes, they truly are productions. You manage to gravitate toward and feature the most unique and interesting individuals that are willing to share their inspirations and their lives with you. Who wouldn't want to be around Chris and Helga? Their zest for life and desire to gather both family and friends; new and old is a wonderful thing to behold. I smiled when their golden retriever barked and then ran to pick up its baby to show and share with you. I was delighted when Chris pointed out the towering tree planted from seeds taken from the Muir woods. Kirsten, this was a short story that I didn't want to end. I can't thank you enough for your time and efforts to educate and enlighten us with your "finds". I wish continued health and happiness to Helga, Chris and their extended community of family and friends. How lucky they are to be a part of this Garden of Eden. 🇺🇸
What a wonderful place! It’s like taking a step back in time. This place and their lives should be written down, as a keepsake for all the family generations to come. Thank you for sharing their lives and close community with us.
