The prophet saw was sleeping less time. He didn't sleep too much. This is why he was waking up in the middle of the night to remember Allah while everybody was sleeping.

Its not silly brother, no question is silly unless its a question which has no benefit at all. My advice would be to try not to commit any sins before and around bed time. And read the adhkaar before sleep and make intention why you are going to sleep what you want to do the next day. Try to make sure that when you wake up you are thinking about Allah and your imaan. Its truly a struggle brother and this is what Allah rewards. He swt doesn't expect perfection but the struggle for it. And Allah knows best.

I feel this way too, but it goes away the second I realize who allowed my soul to return to my body and gave me another chance to wake up.

Zach Martin The reason is likely that you are not doing enough to help other people. Try to do small things, if you're at home try helping the mother or wife with housework. If you have a job then go and donate your time to a local charity, Muslim or not, because one's time is the most precious commodity these days. Know that unless and until you have sacrificed the thing which is MOST precious to you, you have not believed (recall Prophet Ibrahim went to sacrifice his own child). And know that if you have nothing to give, even a sincere smile is charity. So give that which you cherish the most, start small if you have nothing and you will see your ability to give increase. You should ideally get a project of your own, like an activity that you do consistently each week and it builds up over time. If you feel like quitting it, don't. Persevere. That is sabr.

The essence of Islam is to worship One God and be kind. Only believing in Allah in your heart is not enough. Islam is also a social structure not just belief inside - Islam wants you to live in communities and places enormous importance on cultivating yourself into a generous, dignified and beautiful human being. That can only be done by pairing Salat and Zakat with being kind, like helping the starving and the oppressed people in your society.
