It's exactly that, a Music production workstation. When I have friends over and want to show how to make a "hit" quickly, this is the go-to. I can just start drumming up a beat, play some on the keyboard, create a baseline - 5 minutes and it's done. Try that with a regular workstation or synth.
Nice review. Interesting regarding the Keybed. I actually think it’s growing in me. I find the resistence in the keys to help with the curve and expression. I believe they travel a bit more too. Coming from a weighted keyboard I prefer it to a Fantom or montage 6. But seems to be just me lol. Otherwise I think I agree with everything else.
Hello Klaus! The keybed is ok! Not perfect and if you are used to the ones on the Montage or Fantom you will definitely feel the difference for the worse. But in terms of the hole package, i would say that, when you get used to it, it works fine!
The sound quality of the MPCX is nowhere near the Nautilus, or MODX or Fantom. It is a nice change but the set list of Korg and MODX Blow the Key 61 one away, especially for playing live I do not know about the Fanton or 0 yet! Do not believe the Hype!
I have the AKAI MPC KEY 61 and the sounds are much better with Fabric. I agree the MODX+ which I also have is also warm sounding and the Roland Fantom O is also nice however they do not even come close to the Akai MPC Key 61. A huge benefit of the Akai MPC Key 61, Akai always updates their firmware and sound plugins (libraries). The sequencing power is amazing on the MPC Key. It also works fantastic with SPLICE. Just connect your account and download your samples, sounds etc. directly to the MPC Key 61. - The keys are also programmable which allows you to customize how the keys react in real time and velocity along with after touch expressions. The pads on the MPC Key 61 are second to none. While I love the MODX+ for the trance and warmth, the MPC can easily rival the MODX+ by using the fabric collection which is included. Lastly, the vocal processor (Vocal suite plugins) and vocoder, voice shifting, and harmonizers are fully customizable on the Akai MPC Key 61 where the Yamaha and Roland lack many features on the vocal suite. you can layer vocoders with Phase shifting and harmony to a track and have it sound like a full-blown production. I can use up to 24 tracks with no issues and have tons of room for saving my files and sounds along with songs. Two issues with the Akai MPC Key 61: (1). Akai MPC Key 61 it is like a tank, It is much heavier than the Roland Fantom O (Newer version) and the Yamaha MODX+ (2). Onboarding many samples can cause the system to crash or be slow at times. (A quick fix is "truncate" and compress your samples first) then you can work freely! - I recommend the Akai MPC Key 61. The newer version (some updated features) just came out and is on sale!
A Korg, Yamaha, or Roland is a superior live performance keyboard. A MPC Key 61 (or any MPC for that matter) is a superior composition tool. You can sample in the “better sounds” from your Korg, Yamaha, or Roland too. Believe the hype. I have a Roland Integra-7 sound module and some sounds are better. Others aren’t.
@@manofsound9098I own a MPC Key61, Kronos2, MODX, and Nord Stage, Keys61 sequences everything for me, but for authenticity of sounds, it DEFINITELY falls short of the MODX, and especially the others. I still love my Keys61 because none of the others come close to the ease of arranging sequences like the Keys61, that’s why everything runs through it. I do use the pads, drum patterns, but even the Fabric sounds are mediocre at best when compared to my other synths…
