This is exactly all the information I was looking for!!!! A huge thank you for your explanations. I was struggling with the D16 mode of my Taranis XQ7 which binds very poorly with Mobula 7, and I couldn't understand why I only had D16 and ACCESS available..
The best of the best, all this staff I learn myself the hard way but you point very well the upgrade with the radio off, tick off the en, and copy the data via a sd-card adapter
Thanks very much. Shouldn't really be such a massive sense of achievement just from getting that blasted receiver to talk to my transmitter, but this calls for a celebratory cup of tea.
This solution does beg another question: while it's possible to re-select D8 in an OpenTX non-EU firmware (which is the international FCC mode); what mode does the internal TX module need to be in (FCC or EU-Lbt)? There appears to be 3 flavours of TX firmware (FCC, Early EU and EU-LBT). Not being sure of compatibility issues, I opted for EU-LBT in OpenTX and the TX module of my X9D and bought a plugin multi-protocol module from Banggood. This gives me D8 on the module plus a raft of other protocols notably DMS2/DMSX. Hope you find this helpful.
I still can't see D8 mode ! i don't know why its killing me - i downloaded the firmware and the corresponding SD card info and i dunno why its never there !!
Thanks for a good instruction - but - managed to bind but when I go to RSSI I get the information no RSSI data? Is there anything else I missed or had to do?
Hi, finally after 2 years I use this trick in order to fly with D8 protocol. One thing is unclear to me. At 6:56 you copy those SD files on de SD card. And I presume you insert this in the taranis. What do I need to do after with these files that are on the SD card? Is the taranis automatically using this content or do I need to set it up in the taranis menu?
Just copy them onto the SD card, over writing the existing ones and put it back in the radio. You don't need to do anything else cos the radio uses whatever is needs.

Hey there, thanks for the video! I have the taranis X9D+ SE 2019 .. It now has its own version in the "Settings" dropdown list. But there is NO eu or luac to click! or better, to not click haha.. Difficult one, because it only has D16 mode.. No way to fly whoop boards without soldering own rx.. :/ Any ideas?
hello I have been delivered in France a radio and receiver R9 AND R9M LONG MODULE WEAR in fcc non EU (europ) I can not make the connection I do not understand and in addition I have to change the firmwar of all, I must change the radio receiver and module? thank you

may the last Taranis models have the blocked firmware and than not possible to switch from EU to non-EU or hacking maybe. I can't to do anyway... maybe someone can do
Hi, I'm trying to convert my Taranis X9 lite, but when I get to flashing the FW it comes up with this 'Filter on vendor = 0x0483 product = 0xdf11 Opening DFU capable USB device... Cannot open device' Any ideas what's happening? Great video by the way.

Didn't work. I'm using the Q7s would that have anything to do with it??? I selected the correct model etc in OpenTX. Am I alone in the fact that NOTHING ever works. I literally spend 99% of my time troubleshooting. It's starting to get a bit old now. I'm seriously considering selling up
@@WhirlyBloke Unfortunately, my spare time is extremely precious. With family and a very demanding business schedule, sitting staring at blogs, tutorials and youtube videos for hours on end during my limited free time, is not much fun anymore. Especially when it's over something as ridiculous as making my TX say the letters D8 on my internal RF! Maybe soon something will click, but at the moment I just spend my time in a perpetual cycle of confusion and WTF moments as new issues arise after fixing one problem to another.
I don't have an X9 lite to try it on, but I see no reason why not. Remember to back up your TX before you make any changes, so you can put it back how it was if you need to.
What You show here does not work I am affraid to admit. I love your channel and have learned alot from you, Is there a new method that you might know how to flash this ff.....radio so I can get it to work with my models :) thank you
This has worked for me and according to the comments, lots of others. It maybe you have a different configuration/version of firmware or OpenTX. Let me know if you find out.
@@WhirlyBloke Thanks for answer. I found taht I have to flash inner frsky module to non ue version too. I have done that by SD card. After that it works.

@@WhirlyBloke I finally did it :D But I needed to change in betaflight FRSKY_X to FRSKY_X_LBT and it's working for me on mode "Access". I fly at home, it's ok, I have to try somewhere outside on bigger distances ):
