Honestly one of the cutest and most heartfelt moments in the whole movie. Despite being such a little thing, it says *so much*

I thought that it was kind of cute. I'm pretty sure that she was about to swear, and he had an uncle moment, warning her to watch her language. At least, that's what I'm seeing without context.

Yeah, it's sad how "sorry" has basically become a verbal tic for him, he says it so often that it's now something he more or less says out of habit and because he's developed a sort of guilt complex. Sadly that is not uncommon in victims of abuse or even bullying. Victims of abuse/bullying develop a habit of apologizing a lot because they hope to appease the other person and/or because they genuinely feel guilty for even the slightest "offenses". I also have a habit of apologizing too much, to the point where people will point it out and tell me not to apologize. It's a hard habit to break though, sometimes it just slips out without me even really thinking. And I do feel genuinely bad anytime I say or do something that I perceive as being wrong or rude. The only exception to this rule is when I'm really angry, but even then I feel bad afterwards about the things I said.

Well, we see it in other Madrigals too - Dolores is fond of gossip, so her gift is super-hearing, so she can hear everything. Camillo is a jokester and loves pranks, so his gift is shapeshifting - ideal for pranking. Luisa I guess always had desire to help with everything, so her gift was super-strenght. Isabela probably loved plants (we do not see this explicitly, but in her song "What else can I do" she effortlesly says every plants name, even the more difficult ones, so she has plenty of botanical knowledge), so she can now grow them. Peppas mood changes often just like the weather - which translates into her gift of controlling it with her emotions. And Mirabels mom, well, we see she likes to help people, and probably wanted to be a doctor someday, hence her gift of healing. Maybe I am stretching here and there, but this is my theory.

There is no villain but there definitely is an antagonist. She may be redeemed at the end but Abuela is definitely the antagonist but that’s not a bad thing. I remember hearing a saying that says that an antagonist isn’t always necessarily the villain.
