Maybe the voice actor couldn't say "telenovela", so they decide to go by " melodrama". He also didn't say the "Sana, sana, colita de rana" line. It's understandable, Spanish is a hard language to learn, I have to admit that I don't speak "correctly" or whatever that means.

You are correct; テレノベラ "terenobera" (telenovela) is not a common word in Japanese. メロドラマ "merodorama" (melodrama) or just ドラマ "dorama" (drama) are the terms used in Japanese to describe drama series or soap operas, which would include Latin American telenovelas. As for the absence of "sana, sana, colita de rana," that wouldn't be difficult to say with Japanese phonology, (it'd just sound like "sana sana korīta de rana"), but Japanese audiences would simply have no idea what it means, since contact with Spanish-language phrases is very infrequent. I kind of wish they'd made him say it anyway, but I guess they just wanted to localize it.

I never thought Zoro could do musical. Mostly he's known for being VA off an action type anime. Surprisingly amazing though.
