Sponges are another useful tool for hotplate and hot air working. The orange on is porous creates dappled effects easily. The white block, ring and central round section (from middle of the ring) are a harder sponge, useful for edge creation and sliding strokes. The sponges can be cut into other shapes and smaller pieces, making them even more versatile.
