Welcome to Hagpoks Travel Vlog! Today, we’ll explore the captivating Enchanted River in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
Our adventure began at 5 am, departing from Butuan City for a 4.5-hour motorcycle journey to Hinatuan. Along the way, we stopped at Tinago Lagoon (Bridge) and had a satisfying lunch at Drawde's Kamayan, known for its super sulit meals.
We booked a room at a nearby hostel via Facebook and scored a discount, paying 700 pesos per night instead of 800 pesos.
Upon arrival, we paid the entrance fee of 100 pesos each and took the shuttle service to the Enchanted River. You can leave your belongings in the designated area.
The first time I visited in 2015, swimming in the main river pool was allowed. However, since 2017, the local government has restricted swimming in the main pool to preserve its natural beauty. Instead, a designated swimming area is now available about 33 feet (10 meters) away from the pool. Keep in mind that the infrastructure around the river is minimal, with no facilities for buying medicine or food.
The Hinatuan Enchanted River is a stunning saltwater river that flows into the Pacific Ocean. At around 80 feet deep, it’s just long enough to be considered a river. The mesmerizing blue waters, believed by locals to be miraculous, attract visitors from all over the world. The name “Enchanted River” was inspired by a poem by Modesto Farolan.
