Great job Kurt! The attention to detail on this was amazing! Dave's house was my neighbor's house growing up. They picked their house because it was one of the only houses on the block without a pool. They actually dug up the backyard for the movie and then filled it back in and put in some nice landscaping. The pool that's there now was added later. It was really fun seeing the rest of the locations and to see you hanging out in my old neighborhood.
@@davefilms345 it’s crazy, I was just on that road taking the back way home from a meeting in Santa Paula. Then I end up watching this video the very same day.
This Is amazing Kurt, wow, over here in the UK the movie is called California man. I love this film so I can relate to the locations also. Bloody brilliant. Your location vids keep getting better and better. Looking forward to the next one. Oh did you get to weeze the juuuicee lol.
Haha wow that’s interesting. I just looked at wiki and in New Zealand it was called California Man as well, but here in Australia it’s Encino Man, strange.
Fantastic! Really looking forward to this. I loved this film as a kid, but it wasn't called Encino man here in the UK. It was called California man. We wouldn't have had a clue otherwise.
Very cool! My Mom and Stepdad were working at L.A. Mission College during the filming of those school scenes. I had left the Valley to attend college, but I remember them telling my about the filming going on and them describing one of the actors as having really “weird long hair” which could have described Brendan Fraser or Pauly Shore. I do remember that they built LAMC in the late 1980s on part of El Cariso Park. Great video! Love these!
Great video man, really enjoyed, to any fans of movie who wants another hidden treasure from the movie to all WWF/WWE fans out there when Dave and Stoney are teaching Link how to defend himself the clip of Dino Bravo doing the airplane spin was taken from an episode of Wrestling Challenge that aired 7/29/90 (taped actually a month earlier 6/26/90 in Huntington, WV) Gorilla Monsoon does indeed deliver the line during the broadcast that’s heard in the movie
Cool video, man. I grew up in Sylmar and San Fernando so seeing the old footage brought back memories. That Dollar tree was a music store at the time of filming and I use to go buy cassettes there and before that it was a Thrifty’s. I use to go there a lot with my family and when I bought my DJ equipment I bought it at the San Fernando mall. Good times and good memories!
Childhood favorite movies from the 90s.I remember my going to the mall to watch this movie also Wayne World was also playing @ time crazy to think that Brendan Fraser had 2 movies 4 months apart showing Encino Man & School Ties. Summer 92
Wow I had forgotten about this little gem from the early 90's. Great job scouting locations again. Almost scene for scene too. That takes alot of work and sleuthing. Thank you. 😃
Hi Kurt, love the way you do these videos, framing is great for comparison. Over in the UK the film is known as 'California Man', you may get some more traffic if you add that to the title.
OMG! How freaking awesome! I was going to ask you yesterday about “Encino Man” when I asked you about “The Last American Virgin” 😆 thank you so much for this video 🤗
Thank you so much for this video. I'm a bit obsessive about locations used in films and how they've changed over time. Particularly in the Valley (where I grew up before the freeways) where the favorite past time is tearing everything down and building something ugly to take its place.
Such a funny coincidence. . . . just rented / watched this movie last weekend with my family (haven't seen it since it came out). Wasn't looking for this, I'm a sub to your channel. Really good video!!
Dude. Brendan Frazier was so freaking cool. Wanted to be like Corey Haim when I was really young. He was about 5 years older. Had a bro crush on Brendan when I watched this. So glad to see him still working. Hope his body holds out. The weasel was looking rough out in Hawaii. I'd like to see him get some love. We could use some of his goofy comedy chops at the Fox news desk or make him an ambassador to Haiti. In the army now comes to mind.
I remember when Viper was being built. I wasn't tall enough to ride it when it opened but an older person had me stand on his foot and I got on. Back when a season pass was $25
Another excellent adventure though the the past! Thank you for putting in so much research & location filming for these trips down movie memory lane! ❤️🤘🏼
Awesome job on this one, watched this tons as a kid, still a fun movie I can't wait til my kids are a little older to understand it. The only thing is I never got the whole "running the Vapor in reverse"- looks normal to me in the movie footage- and that park was packed for a school day afternoon!
Awesome vid!! Rose McGowan..''omg he is soo rude'!' I didn't have a lance mountain but i did have a mike mcgill! Fun trivia fact..the metal band on the tv in the bedroom when link fully thawed was/is sacred reich playing the song american way.\m/
omg laurel plaza. i completely forgot about that place. used to go there to ice skate when i was a little kid. as i got a bit older, my sister and I would go to iceoplex that used to be by the van nuys airport.
Around 10:58 Is that the area Clark kidnaps John Candy in Vacation? Didn't they and Summer School use 6 flags? Super Awesome video, Kind Sir! I love your location episodes! 😀
I had the movie on vhs. From the looks of the last scene, it could be either in Moorpark on the 118 highway ( near the 23) or off the 126 between Valencia and Ventura before they widened the highway.
The final filming location is in Moorpark/Filmore on Happy Camp Road, which is also home to the urban legend of gravity hill. You can place your car in neutral and it will roll uphill.
The scene that you're looking for I think is when you're going to Ventura through Saugus and through the town of Piru. Idk if the trees are still there
Great video man! You should do locations for the first Fast & Furious. One of my favorite movies of all time especially since I believe most of it was shot near the harbor area where I’ve lived most of my life! I’d love to see you go through the rest of the locations though!
your videos area absolutely awesome! I am from Austria, grew up with all those movies ans visited CA a couple of times. Now seeing all those movie locations and kinda knowing where they are is so great
Loved this movie! What I find most interesting is at Dave's house, there is a kind of palm tree in the front yard; in the movie, it was short like a fern, but now it looks to be 6 or 7 feet tall!
I think that scene where they Dave tried to ditch Link out in the middle of nowhere,….I think that might be on route 23 between Moorpark and Bardsdale.
