New solo music from Blue Oyster Cult's Buck Dharma. The "End of Every Song", written by Buck with lyrics adapted from the 19th century poem "Dregs" by Earnest Christopher Dowson. It tells a tale, of looking back on better times and resignation to an uncertain future.
Buck touches on our era of unease, the issues and pace of change today. He takes nostalgic stock of his own career, and people in his life, with fondness for those around him who have departed. There's sadness, but also gratitude and resolve toward a better future.

Suddenly I just came to the realization that rock and roll is fading away with the loss of each of these great musicians. What a great age to have lived in.

Such a good song.. May all those who passed rest in peace. My mother died on July 10, 2024... a few days before this song came out. She passed away at home listening to Blue Oyster Cult on repeat, with family around her. Thank you. This song hit home so much, it means so much to my family. She'd been listening since the 70's when she was a teen, and BOC has been in my family forever. Mom named me Adele Rios just like from Del Rio's Song. At the end she couldn't even talk from the cancer weakened state, but she could mouth the lyrics to BOC. The kronos and "Dont Fear The Reaper" are on her headstone. I've been to dozens of concerts, including Reno on July 5th because mom told us we couldn't miss that show even if she was going to pass soon. Mom I love you, I know you're listening ♥ Thank you Buck.

Very special to hear this message. I’m so sorry for your loss. She sounds like a super person. I was at July 5 show as well. I hope that Buck reads this message but I’m going to tell him about it anyways. I’m going to a show this weekend.

Buck Dharma is one of the greatest guitar players that a lot of people never listened to. I have met Buck many times and has always very cordial. His wife Sandy is one of nicest ladies I have ever met. It has been quite a ride since 5 I have seen 76 BOC concerts and not seen a bad one. "On Tour Forever."

Thanks for everything you've done. I turned my mom on to BÖC when I was a teenager. Turned my son on to you when he was around 5 years old. He turned my granddaughter on to you when she was about that age. When you played at the Harvester in Rock Mount VA in September of '21, you had 4 generations in the second row.

Oh boy. What a song. Sometime in middle school I heard Cities on Flame. Later it was Don't Fear the Reaper. But BOC got its hooks in me with Godzilla, Golden Age of Leather, I Love the Night and Nosferatu, all from Spectres. From the old gravel pit party spots, to the fast food parking lots Blue Oyster Cult was always spinning. Then the 1980 Black and Blue show in Largo, MD solidified my fandom. So many tunes and concerts and up to The Symbol Remains, it's been incredible. Thanks, Buck. You've helped create The Soundtrack to My Life.

This is terrific, Buck. "Dregs" was new to me but speaks right to my heart. I was lucky enough to catch BOC (along with Aldo Nova and Accept) back in March of 1984 at the Fox in Atlanta. What a f**king great show! At one point, we were up in the balcony smoking a robusto-sized doobie, and Buck is just laying down a blistering solo in the spotlight. Then he flips his SG guitar over and the back is covered with a mirror and he catches the spotlight and reflects it back into the crowd like a laser beam. He's painting the crowd with the spotlight while still managing to keep the solo going. BOC was just explosive! Their early records are still some of the finest slabs of rock and roll ever recorded. So good to hear from you, Buck!

Thank you Bucj Thank you Buck..aka Donald. Beautiful song and video montage. I've been on the BOC train since 1975. Man...a lot of people have have been in the band. Will allways revere the classic lineup but have a place in my heart for all the others that have come and gone and are here in the current "2 Oyster Cult" edition. As an old guy certainly get it as I/we lose friends over the years and live goes on. Funny but I get the same vibe from this tune as I do from Peter Gabriel's recent tune "Playing For Time". The wonder of a life that is on back nine for most of us and drawing closer to conclusion. I feel blessed in my own life with many so many things....and also to have been alive and able to experience such an amazing era of music. Now I'll have to try and ID everyone in the video LOL.

First listen- No one in their twenties could have pulled this off. Obviously a personal review given the visuals, but the theme can be easily viewed within the lens of achieving a certain duration of living. I liked the guitar tracking; it sounded thick without being muddy. Interesting that Buck swapped out his "cheeseburger" for a tobacco-burst, but the preference for a headless stock is still present! I'm not sure how I would classify this yet. It had something of a down-tempo melancholy chill to it (which I liked) broken by guitar solo accents. Curious to hear what else Buck has brewing up for us.
