Hay man we haven’t seen a new video from you. Hope your good. I used to use foot spray powder to find the source of a leak. Spray it around the area run it then inspect it helps if the area is clean to start. The leak will be easy to find then. If you work on the same brand you end up knowing where the leaks are. Hope your good along with the family and the dog too. Happy New Year 🎈🎊🎆 Nothing lasts forever. Nice stove so you’re looking for down trees 🌳. If guns are outlawed then only the outlaws will have guns. Because outlaws don’t care about or follow the law. Thanks

All's good, just busy with a big reno I took on and Hockey season is going strong. I'm getting to old and sore to do anything else. I am waiting for the tank to be finished for the XJ900 and I will get to work on that bike. I really want to get back on the Norton Chopper, bobber, brat build soon too. Lots of ideas for that one. I'm so tired when I get home, I just can't get motivated to turn the garage on. Reno is almost done, I am cutting back on Hockey now and getting prepared for a video very soon. Thx for watching and inquiring. Cheers Bruce

Hi Bruce. I'm a fan of your videos. I've gained a lot of insight watching you work on your Norton 750. I'm trying to rebuild my 1969 Norton Commando 750 I inherited from an old friend after he passed away back in 2009. I have no idea of the condition of the motor, the bike has just been sitting in my garage all these years, thus why Im tearing it down to try and get her running again.. this is My first time ever doing something like this. I wonder if could I pray upon you for some insight with a few questions? When measuring the bores on the piston barrels I read 2.8930 inches or 73.48mm. the book says ( BTW I have the same book you're working from) it says 2.875 inches or 73mm is standard for the Bores. yet as you can see my measurements come out a little different. my pistons are stamped 2nd on top. They measure out (L) piston 2.888.0 at bottom of the skirt, 2.882.0 below the oil ring. the measurements are the same on the (R) piston. they look like they are at factory stock which is 2.8713 to 2.8703, or 72.931mm to 72.906 mm. am I all messed up? or am I good to go? and my other confusion is in the stamped 2nd on top of the pistons. Are they already 2nd over? or am I nuts? and what would 2nd over be? any help would be very helpful.

It looks like someone has already bored the cylinders to 2nd over and your pistons are 2nd over. If your measurements are accurate, you should be OK to refit them. What I like to do to confirm this is, use long feeler gauges, fit the piston back into the bore with the rings off. Start with a .002 thou feeler gauge and work your way up to .006 thou. If the .006 thou feeler gauge is loose, and you can push the piston through the bore without too much effort you may need a rebore & 3rd over size pistons. .005 clearance is acceptable to just refit what you have. If there is no scoring you should be good to go and reuse what you have. When using the feeler gauges make sure to place them at the widest part of the piston skirt not along the wrist pin side. and put the pistons into the barrel as they would be if reassembling not sideways.

Thank you. That's what I seen you do in one of your videos. I'll do that right away. You're a huge help.

Hey Bruce, What was the name of those bearings for your Norton Lower end Crank Case? the upgraded ones you recommended. If you need to stash your rifle somewhere out of your country, I'll offer my help. Cause what they're doing is just wrong on every level. if that sounds good to you, let me know and we'll do a privet message.

Hi Charles, the bearings are called super blend( flat rollers rather than balls) Thanks for the offer on the riffle. Hard to beleive they would ban a 70 year old 22 rabbit gun. But that is what Trudeau is trying to do. This riffle was made before they stamped serial numbers on 22's. It was never registered and I never applied for my PAL to report it. So they don't know it exists. He will be gone soon. Hopefully permanently from this world.
