Close down the Walmarts completely to shoppers unless they are from Uber, Door Dash, or Instacart. All groceries are delivered by a deliver driver to the customer's home for a fee, of course, for crime free shopping.

Unless you've been a checkout person you have no comprehension how badly they are treated by customers. I've been there done that and been a Customer Service Manager for Walmart so I know from where I speak. Foul language, throwing things at cashiers all of this and more. All cashiers go thru extensive training and when put on the floor are shadowed by a mentor for several days.

Some of the cashiers are gross. Picking their noses, butts and crotches. Sneezing on their hands and touching items, bags and change. I'm a self checkout user. If you double scan you go back and delete. I would rather use one than a clerk. It's my preference.

I don't remeber the prices of gas way back. But, if you went to the full service lane at a gas station. They pumped the gas, washed the windshield, checked tire pressure and oil. That was $1.00/gallon. If you went to the self service lane the price was $0.85. So, I got the employee discount for working at the station. Why don't I get my discount at Wal-Mart????

Fantastic bring full service back. Maybe you can bring back the cashier packing bags again. I hate the self serve. There is always a problem with them and we have all seen theft happening at the self serve. So bring full service back , pack the bags and don’t raise the prices because of full service. Prices never went down with self checkout and the money saved on preventing theft should actually go back to the customers.

You'll pay more. I love Publix, and they have lovely cashiers and nice baggers. But it's an expensive store. If you are willing to pay more just to have the extras, then do it. I go there just as a break from Walmart, which I cannot stand. It's a zoo. But prices are lower, in general, and they do home delivery for a fee. I can afford to pay more, but common sense tells me that for the extra money, it's not worth it sometimes. I go to Publix to treat myself, and I almost always am sorry when I look at my receipt. But nicer stores carry nicer stuff, and they generally treat you better.

If I wanted to be a cashier, I would apply for the job. I shop at Kroger’s now. It’s nice to shop at a clean, organized store with friendly cashiers… don’t know why I ever stopped shopping there.

I hate the self-checkout. It's another ploy by the store to save money, but they're going to pay more than they save because of shoplifters. Plus I prefer to have the cashiers do the work of checking me out.

As an employee (not Walmart) dealing with self-checkouts, I'm still waiting for a raise for having to supervise them while running to and fro to the register, and being screamed at for decisions made at the corporate level that I had zero say in. It's not just the customers suffering, it's most of the employees too.

Hopefully other stores will take notice that WalMart is starting to ROLLBACK on the self checkouts and maybe start doing the same when they actually have to admit how much they seem to be losing in profit since they got the self checkouts in their stores.

I stopped going to Walmart. They are becoming ridiculous. I went to buy mascara and they used these barricades to block most of the makeup area. Also you have to pay at that area. So I bought my mascara then had to go through the large maze of self checkouts to get out of the store. I'd rather pay an extra 1.50$ and get my product at rexhall or shoppers. I don't steal and I hate them.watching me, blocking me treating me like I would steal. Furthermore why don't they pay me for having to check myself out. No service anymore. The consumer is being removed from the equation

Customer risk of prosecution for theft is high using self checkouts. WIth self-checkout, If you make a mistake, and get checked when leaving, it would be hard to argue the attempted theft was not intentional. I put the onus on the store to get my bill correct and only use cashiers. I don't think it is a service to a customer to place them at higher legal risk by having them scan their own items.

Theft requires intent. Forgetting to scan your apples isn’t enough proof. Also Walmart waits for you to accumulate felony levels of theft before doing anything. Gonna be harder to argue against intent if you’ve stolen thousands of dollars of items over months. Also they can’t even check you. You can just leave. They have no warrant, and once you’ve paid the items are yours. Same as they can’t ask to see a receipt for your shoes or phone, when they ask to see a receipt for *YOUR* groceries you already paid for, you can just keep walking.

Walmart is always changing duties and regulations and titles, they need to stick with old work ethics. Self checkouts is the worst service for customers and associates as well. Associates are getting paid to look at you doing their jobs. And they are not getting working training so when they are asked to help they have no experience on how to solve issues.

Walmart associates don’t even get 30%. It’s 10% on non-grocery items (except produce and impulse candy/soda by the checkouts) except for during the holidays, when it also works on grocery items. It does not work on clearance/rollback items, and can not be used by anyone else except the associates dependent children (up to age 22 if in school or otherwise until age 19) or spouse.

Employee discount is not even enough. Walmart would have to pay me my real working salary at work, before I decide to be a cashier for them. And even so, I still don't want to use them, because I don't want to be a cashier when I go out to enjoy shopping with my family. I almost lost my kid once, because I was busy with the check out machine. After that incident, I never want to use the check out again.

Self Checkout. A fancy word meaning: SLAVE. I'm doing someone else's job and not getting paid for it. The line ups for using self checkout at my local Walmart is a JOKE! There's a huge line up and only FIVE machines operating. Tell the staff that they need to open additional machines and the employee says 'I don't know how to?' Look at the cashiers and only ONE is open. I miss the old days when we had express checkout. 1-12 items. The customers going to her have carts FULL. I just gave up and said I'll NEVER shop here again.

I don't like Walmart's attitude. Now everyone looks at you like you are a criminal instead of a customer. It's insulting they way they eye everyone with suspicion. It's all about selling product, not customer experience. I use self-checkout if I only have a few items, it's much faster, but I prefer going to a cashier. I really wish they would go back to bagging groceries. Sometimes you end up with 4 customers bagging their stuff at the same cash. You are bound to end up with someone elses items.

Self checkout can be both infuriating andeasier/ faster... EXCEPT that almost evrytime I use a self check out the machine will produce some kind of error then I have to wait 10 minutes for the one attendant to finish with the 6 other self check out tills that are also in error and need assistance. ... but sometimes it's quick. I prefer cashiers. And ones that will help bag when you have a lot of items.

Sometimes we as humans innocently forget to scan an item. I actually did it! I caught myself but I skipped a scan; took the item from the bag then scanned it. And sometimes the cashier accidentally skips a scan. I have brought back items before when cashiers forgot to scan.

A recent MIT study put the average cost of a 4-station grocery check out station at $125,000 in install. Now Walmonster will remove them and and then what ? Dump them in the local Land-Fills ?

The restaurant example is solid. I order takeout online. I go to pick it up. I have already gone the self service route - and they made it even easier. Plus no risk of going to jail as no opportunity for error. That is different then forcing consumers to do the self service route. Then punishing them with jail if they make a mistake (because they are not trained cashiers) or their system doesn't work right. The cost of an easy mistake is all on the consumer. All risk no reward.

There should be a line for at least 30 items or more, to have the entitlement of having someone bag their groceries or items for them. Also, there should be at least two or more line ups that have a cashier, that only takes 10 items or less, but you'd have to bag your own items, but no groceries.

If there's only self check out available I'm not even shopping there, especially at grocery stores where I show up with a cart full of stuff, would take forever to get out of there. I haven't been to a Wal Mart in 10 years so I don't even know if they are self check out only where I live. :-)

Ha for me its the other way around. I can do it in 20 minutes myself at a self checkout, while on a cashier it takes at least 40 minutes just to stand in line

HALLELUJAH! It’s about time, and please let your hirees know not to complain out loud where customers can here their complaints when checking out, at least it’s a job. I miss standing in a long line and having enough time to converse with others in line, but l hate bagging my groceries. Can we also get back the friendly smiles from some of the cashiers? You know all Walmart cashiers do not smile.

Self check out for me....I find some cashiers are so rude and seem as if they don't want to be on their jobs, and they just take it out on the customers on some days. I also get a chance to see the prices that are checked in, and not have a cashier beeping so quickly. When on odd occasion I see a price that does not corresponds with the posted price and I ask for a recheck; I get an attitude as if I just bothered them.

Same. Haven't used a cashier in 15 years. Self checkouts are the best. Need the stores they have in the states where there are no checkouts at all, scan stuff into your phone as you go and leave.

I agree with the idea of all your items being coded in way a computer can actually recognize and the calculate everything in your cart (including discounts or offers) .. all just before the entrance/exit door .. then you pay with either cash or card .. and if the alarm goes off it means you didn't go through the automated system .. but they would need to make sure the alarm isn't also just going off for no reason.. other than that it eliminates the idea of the customer feeling like the untrained unhired employee.. when all they wanna do is shop,pay & gtfo of there.

Wal-Mart needs to pay their associates more money so they can care more about the company assets, they lose so much money to organize crime because that's what this is about, is not you regular customers stealing from you, most of your lose is internal, home depot and all retailers needs to understand, when you pay your associates low wages they will find a way to make end meet and they start stealing from you.

My walmart took out all but 3 full service checkouts. All checkouts are now self checkouts and this change was made within the last week.

Self check out fan here . I kinda laugh when someone says I’m not an employee for Walmart I never use self check out standing at the ATM. Those old boomers said the same thing about ATM but now who would go back to standing in line to deposit your pay check pay your bills etc.

wal mart should look at what Aldi's is doing. they get you in and out. if I have to cash and bag myself out. I want a 30% discount. If we walk around the store and pick the items ,ring up and bag the products. then what service is wal mart providing other than warehouse.

Walmart has been working with AI for all checkout lanes and automatically flags attempted theft and mis-scans. I noticed when filming a shopping video and it captured me holding my camera up to the screen as an item. 😅

Lowes here is 100% self checkout. It sucks. Wal-Mart should actually train their cashiers. They have the absolute worst cashiers in retail.

The pre installed security tags need to be swiped over the deactivation pad. And legally you can’t be stopped if the alarm goes off. To stop someone the store has to see selection of the item. So it makes sense for the store to make sure everything is scanned

I hated it when I was standing behind a woman getting their her items checked out and the cashier and her were having a conversation after the cashier handed her the receipt. Move out of the way and stop the CLUCKING. For that reason I prefer self checkout.

I’ve never been trained to self checkout, I make plenty plenty mistakes, happens all the time.. I need complete training with their trainer signing me off, then I need a training period to get comfortable, lots to do here

No training, that's why my estimated total is $30, but rings up as $116. I've made the machine so fouled up that the actual employee can't fix it. Then they check me out, LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO!!!!

If I have to bag my own groceries I’d rather go to the self checkout because there’s not as much pressure to be quick. I’m in a scooter and it’s difficult to pack them myself.

I can scan and bag a full cart.. CORRECTLY in a 3rd of the time it takes to stand in line and WAIT. It's not rocket surgery. I'm not using coupons or try to buy something without a tag or barcode.. learn to do the veggies when you have just a couple items until you know what you're doing and holding up the line.. it's so must faster 👊😎

The Walmart on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston, SC replaced the self-checkouts a few weeks ago. The lines ae now longer. The atmosphere in the store has changed drastically. I am considering going to PUBLIC to do my shopping. It may be a little further but the PUBLIC stores are carpeted and carry items not available at Walmart. They have lines for checkout that you have to have certain Walmart cards to use certain checkouts. If you have cash too bad. So long Walmart I'm on my way to PUBLIC stores.

The irritating part is you always seem to be waiting because no one knows how to use them and doesn't care how long they are taking. It is also irritating to have to get someone, that just happens to always be too busy to help you, when you do certain things like cancel something you accidently scanned. I'm also paying a lot to this company, I don't want to now have to do the work for the company. We pay you enough to have someone else do this work for me. Great video!
