I remember a concert of nagamani at Kannur, kerala in a navarathri season, at her 12-13age with great violin, mridangam and kanjira artists..she started with the varnam sarasijanabha in kamboji.. Enthero was also played. It was a wonderful concert ...
Tonic to the ears just like tasting indian rice mixed with so many curries unlike some like tasting one by one with rice. i start the day doing mental 20 arithmetic questions meant for geniuses in 30 seconds but i would like to try my fingers on veena and vioin and other instruments wih the same speed. That would be a real achievements to g with my singing the same song within 2 minutes for fun.
Srinivas's performances used to hide all these artists in Mondolin. Now I feel many artists are there with far excellence but not got opettunities to excel. Nice Mondolin and other'too.
Sugumar Prasad was the outstanding classical music performer on guitar before Srinivas. Many local sabas rejected to exhibit his talent as guitar was a foreign musical instrument. He went to many countries to perform great shows until suddenly no news about him till now. Only one video in youtube is available recorded from an audio cassette. Even Srinivas wanted to learn from him but was for some reason got rejected. Let us appreciate talent as and when it comes out of an artist. Regards.
True.. we have change the mindset of linking an instrument with just one person... Everyone is an artist and deserves opportunity... Carnatic is undergoing a transformation which is very much required... Again, thanks to TMK for that...
Rightly said, we audience need to change our thought process, be matured and accept every deserving artist as what they are! Every artist will have their own style, signature in process.. Srinivas ji performance did not hide anyone's performance! He was upbringing many talents. His style was janaranjagam!! He was no compare to anyone! My two cents with due respect to all artists. we should only encourage every artist without any discrimination! STOP COMPARING! Enjoy the music and it is universal language! Be respectful and choose your words before it is spelt!
The cameraman put the camera on stand & gone for tea. No close-up, thavil, ghatam, violin & finger movement. Same angle. Creativity should be there. I hate this cameraman & director. Programme is very good, but these factors reduce the interest.
