Great detail is that music perfectly fits mood and feel of particular planet type. Just listen how paradise welcoming is atol or tropical. Or wast and lonely is desert. And how terran sounds like home... because we are humans, and it is our home.
Ever since I played Endless Legend I have loved your games, and own them all except ES1. I've never played games where the lore and artwork combine to really immerse you in the game. I can totally imagine myself in a Broken Lords castle, or hurtling along in a United Empire ship. These cutscenes really add so much to the game, and are absolutely gorgeous.
i dont know why I was able to see these scenes but then i changed HDD for SSD and installed everything and now i dont see the scenes, the option is on.
You need special tech to make colony in steppe :0 This concept looks strange - it was fine in first game, but became ridiculous in second. I would "colonize" such lava-planets only with machines
For me it's the gas/frost/hot giant landings. Already have a weird phobia of those planets (endless gas, extreme pressures, ENDLESS GAS, no surface, insane gravity), don't really need to see a ship going straight to it.
Edit: Three years later and I think these things are awesome and should always be respected for the amount of artistic talent that was invested into this. I am sorry for ever trying to sway this company from achieving such beauty, even if it is not necessarily important to the gameplay aspect of the game. Worldbuilding is always a respectable piece of the game and these cutscenes make the world feel much more alive and adaptive. These cutscenes are extremely pretty, I'll admit, but in reality they could just as well be removed. This is because: A: -They don't do anything. They do not introduce any gameplay mechanics nor they do not teach the player any which were already introduced. They are just there to stare at. and B: -They are annoying due to the fact that the player is disallowed from doing anything whilst they are playing. Causing anyone who had watched them at least once to disable or skip them immiediately.
Yeah, I'd love to see this kind of theme and art applied in a way which is more visible throughout the game. There is obviously *so much* character and thought put into each of the planets, but it seems like you just visit them once for colonisation and that's it. So rather than pop-up cutscenes, integrate it into the game and make it part of what's going on.
I honestly love the cutscenes, and still watch them every time they come up, i don't necessarily think they need to be a gameplay mechanic to be needed.
The Endless series has A E S T H E T I C . Sometimes, it's just about some eye candy. You can be dam sure that I'm not watching every space battle because it's necessary. I watch (almost) every space battle because, hot dam that's gorgeous.
While I get what your saying, I do think they are actually a integral part of the game They help build atmosphere, to give you a view of the many worlds and creatures that live upon them, they make it more then simply just pressing a button, as each theme unique to each planet plays giving you a sense of that world, from the powerful and lonely theme of the ash worlds They play a part and are something I always watch, as I find they are a very memorable and is very "Amplitude" and this sort of visuals and music are something that all of the endless franchise takes part in
