There is interesting research about endophytes and mycorrhiza living with yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius) done in Argentina and Germany. Even new natural plant protective substances synthesised by the endophytes were identified. Hi from Germany and after my yacon harvest I want to save money for the kickstarter. Around 70% of soil fungi are not described yet by science.

I’m an old timer who started out with Rodale’s book back in the 70’s. I found you via Oppenheimer Ranch. This is SO exciting and intriguing! Thank you so much 😍😍😍

For maximum terp level harvest just before dawn or as soon as your indoor lights come on . Terpenes are a 24 hr cycle and get lower the longer into the day one puts off harvest .

Totally absorbed in your presentations. Your passion, enthusiasm and knowledge shine through. Here in the UK we have a very wet climate with short bursts of summer that dry everything out then its back to long, cold, damp months until about April. Water sits on my allotment, mostly compacted with the level being below the surrounding footpaths that are the boundaries to each allotment so unmovable. I've just built 4 compost bins to add living soil and build our levels up. I have also upcycled an old fridge as a worm bin. They are both doing well. The only thing I worry about or, can't cope with, is the submerged areas of our plot for nearly 5-6 months. My question is, do I fill the allotment area with tons of soil or build raised beds for planting. I know which is the easiest but we will still have soggy footpaths all year round. What do I need to do...? Cheers from Bolton in Lancashire, UK.

Dang whenever I accidentally touch my face with compost/manure hands I just break out in pimples 😭.

Yeah be careful!! I do NOT smell my compost close to my face any longer. It is not worth it - it's way more complicated than folks realize and things are in process (it needs the time to do the work) and the heat at the beginning has microbes riding on the steam coming off the pile... be careful. There are strains of pathogenic e.coli and more that are now learning to survive in the heat and can make folks sick - this is why earthworms are so vital: they remove all that within weeks, so finish your composts with worms ALWAYS :)

@@ThePermacultureStudent Good to know I'll definitely be careful. Currently running Vermicompost, thermophilic compost and a wood chip cold compost. Found a nematode in my thermophilic pile on day 12 or so still pretty warm. The wood chips had a lot of diverse microorganisms. Just getting into microscopy so still learning to identify. Got too tired looking at samples had to wait on vermicompost. Thankful to your knowledge ❤️
