Nice review, very well done! I’ve had the Furthrrr Generator for a few months now, and it’s a BEAST! So much fun finding the sweet spots, and the tone and timbre are like nothing else! (Except perhaps a Buchla 258?)

Nice to see you've entered the "fold"

The Strong Zero core doesn't add linear FM, the standard analog oscillators are already capable of that. It enables linear through zero FM. This means that if the modulation would cause the carrier oscillator to go lower than 0 hz, instead of just stopping it will go 'through zero' and into "negative frequencies". Obviously it doesn't destroy the space-time continuum - negative frequencies aren't really a thing. Rather the carrier waveform is inverted while in the sub-zero state. I don't know for sure, but I assume the Strong Zero core actually uses phase modulation to achieve this though, which technically isn't the same thing as FM, but in practice it produces the same results. This is how most "FM"-synths (like the DX7 for instance) are implemented.

It seems very expensive for a module that just goes FurRrRrRrRrRrRrBzzzzzzZrRrRrRrRT You can get a lot of similar tones from a Behringer Neutron for £200, and then you are getting a bunch of other "modules" for free. You seem very happy with your purchase, so that's what's important 👍 I was just shocked by the price 🤣

I have always been a DPO dude... I got one after I was stupid and sold my shared system. I really liked how warm it sounded as well as all the extra goodies like switchable waveforms for the mod buss as well as having RM and AM as well as FM and modulation of the waveshaper. I landed up trading it for a DPO tho bc I didn’t like how the FM worked even tho I set the jumper to run in expo mode. I just couldn’t get as extreme and raw sounds out of it as the DPO. Plus I like having two separate mod busses .. one for the wave shaper and one for the FM.. mainly the FM implementation on the DPO is far superior if you’re more into crazy sounds rather than the more musical nature of the furthurrr. The build quality on the furthurrrr is far superior IMO however DPOs hold up well. Ppl out there using their same DPOs for 10 years or however they been making them

Seems a lot pricey for what the module offers. I have the same thought for most complex oscillator modules. Like guitar pedals, I prefer simple interfaces and do one thing well kind of gear. I find it too hard to follow a complex oscillator interface once in a case and smothered in cables.
