Hello my friends! Here are a few laps on a little training loop I made while I was up at Gold Creek Lodge in Northern Idaho. Training on a short loop is great because you lets lots of repetition! Repetition leads to progress! This loop consisted of a technical off-camber section, some logs, a techy hill, and a flowier section.
A training session for me on a short track like this usually lasts for about 30 minutes at a time.
Also, there is a much longer version of. this video (including me laying out the track and some silly crashes) on my website!

Awesome trails! I need to move somewhere that I can go ride, from my house... lol

I find watching your training relaxing, just as much as being out and focused on just the next 100 feet in front of me. The world gets small working the dance between speed and the technical....Good times 😎

If you travel to ride, you should investigate Michigan. There is a system called the "CCC trails", (Cycle Conservation Club), that has expanded a lot I think since the side by side buggy things, but I am sure all the single tracks are there. "Tin Cup" is pretty tight if you like that stuff. But my favorite is "The Little-O" (40 mile loop, and there still may be "The Big-O" 100 mile loop.), and there are many others. You can call a dealership in the area, (central Michigan, lower Peninsula, "Peacock" "Baldwin" area), called "Peacock LTD" for trail maps and lodging. Once you start floating over the sand whoops and flow through the bermed corners, (Little-O), and have great dinner at "Club 37", (riders in gear welcome.), you will know it was more good riding you did not miss. Doug in Michigan.

Love this little track! It is the kind of thing I could take my 690 through... definitely would be lacking the finesse of your runs but doable and fun. I also noticed the last log being a bit of a sketch one being off camber like that so you don't really get a good straight line at it. Thanks for the fun video, it looks like our trails in the lower mainland but I am not sure if it is.

Really nice, I have a trail on my property here in Vermont, not quite as technical, (I clear logs for skiing) I have to do this in repetition.

Hey Megs, I'm new to racing (first full year), but I'm trying to train as much as possible (3-4 days a week). How do you manage with riding/training alone? Generally when I'm training I just do drills close to the truck because I'm worried about getting injured in the woods when riding solo. I have buddies I ride with but they usually only make it out once a week at most.

I need a tutorial vid specifically on that climb. My local spot has a steep long hill with big root that has been dug out by people getting stuck so it creates a step about 2/3 of the way up and you HAVE to chop the throttle to not go into orbit and it gets me every time.
@EarthSurferUSA
@EarthSurferUSA Год назад
More speed/momentum, to let you chop the throttle and keep moving? Bunny hop it, (with more speed), the best you can? :)
@patrickholmes001
@patrickholmes001 Год назад
@@EarthSurferUSA the hill is pretty vertical, the step is nearly waist high, and its high enough up the hill that you've already run out of momentum.

@megs_braap
@megs_braap Год назад
Thankfully I’ve never had to run from a bear on the trail haha! I did come really close though about a week before filming this video. I was in southern Idaho. I came around a corner on some mountain singletrack and was face to face with a mama bear and 3 cubs! I slammed on the brakes and they all scattered.

@@megs_braap I'd say spending time riding is more important. Than wasting time editing videos for content's sake. Screw the algorithm, post quality rather than quantity. People who know what's what follow you because you know what's what. Long time fan and follower who has learned a ton from your videos and appreciates every second.

May be I’m getting older but I can’t handle doing 20-40 miles of this. You can’t even get pass 2nd gear because it’s so technical. Personally, I prefer balance between technical and gncc type of riding. But if she loves it, that’s all that matters!
