The Elle and Vivian arc is honestly the best - I wanted more scenes of those two together and could have gleefully watched a whole spin-off of the two being besties. Both Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair were PERFECT in their respective roles. That was such a true feminist movie, in the most unexpected, understated, fun way.
I love when they allow female characters to actually get along, and not pit them against each other. Guys are allowed to physically vent out their frustrations, while girls tend to be passive aggressive. I loved seeing Rory and Paris become closer.
Sharpay was the most entertaining character, I loved watching her chew the scenery. Still, it was a little annoying to have her befriend the heroes at the end of each movie, only to go right back to trying to sabotage things at the beginning of the next.
I lived it. I was a grip on a film and she was an actress. She was with the actor I had been harboring a crush on since I was 14. I was jealous. Now, we’re Besties. I think that she’s amazing, and I cheer her on and hand her markers for autographs. I had to admit my insecurities and accept responsibility for my negative attitude. She was NEVER my enemy, she was just my opposite. But, two halfs make a whole.
I loved this video! Even with a rocky start it’s heartwarming to know that with forgiveness, growth and understanding a great friendship can be forged.
This is the third video I see from this channel that goes into tropes that are not one person but are about the dynamic between two or more of them. I find that very interesting, as prior I used to think a trope defines to one character alone. I hope you'll cover more of these types of tropes.
Using Ali and Mona in the thumbnail is wild. They weren't just enemies. Mona wanted to kill Ali, and Ali bullied Mona endlessly. These two would never be friends in any capacity. Maybe reluctant allies, temporarily but not friends.
I like this trope cuz it shows real character development in the hater. My favorite is Vivien because she’s this snobby east coast, old money girl and she probably grew up with an attitude towards west coast people but in a moment of character growth, she sees Elle as someone who actually belongs in Harvard.
This is a beautiful trope to work with, enjoy and be enspired. Sadly I never saw this unfold in real life in 40 years of lifetime. People who hated my friends' and family's guts, never became friends with them. I experienced the same: the person who would hate me, were easy to spot on the first day at a new class or new job or at a new appartement complex. No matter how hard I tried to make friends with them, it never worked - It just worsened. Meanwhile I gave up. Some people will never make up their mind. I know what it is like to come home from a job you was bullied at, lay down in your bed and being awakened by the neighbor who hates you, banging with their fists at your door, claiming, there must be a hidden dryer in your home, running at night - even calling the police several times. You just wonder what you did in life you deserve that karma.
I do enjoy this trope my I liked Jane and Petra, Rory and Paris, woody and buzz et etra. I liked Regina and Emma but sometimes Emma was catering to much to Regina but that’s another story. Sabrina and Blair I liked in the first two seasons and it helps to think of them as sisters but post high school they went through the same bad habits that I am going to screw you over so I get revenge. I blame the writers Well Sharpay in the third movie was doing her own thing and in Sharpay greatest adventure she seemed to redeem herself

Rory didn't do it "without even trying". She is constantly studying and doing extra curriculars. She is simply portrayed to be able to handle the stress of that load better than Paris
Interesting video, but why did you make a video about enemies to besties without mentioning "Avatar"? It's like talking about complete psychopaths in sci-fi without mentioning Palpatine, or talking about the difference between tragic and sympathetic without talking about unintentionally unsympathetic characters.
