@ronaldwheeler6060 You probably dont know the absurdity of your statement, so Ill explain. The Keystone pipeline is transporting foreign crude oil down to Florida for refineries and then it is sold overseas. The XL Keystone pipeline would do the same just in a bigger amount.

We don't need foreign oil, we just need to stop sending ours overseas.

​@@hanshansen3885 Most of our refineries are set up to refine heavy crude which costs less to buy. So they can overall cut costs by buying cheap heavy oil and sell light crude and or products to other countries. Part of the reason for this is the large increase in oil from fracking is light crude. To handle all of this light crude you would need to spend vast amounts to build new refineries or modify existing ones. Overall it would increase the cost of gasoline here. Finally why would you want to invest in a new refinery when the current administration says they are going to put you out of business.

In their current form they are pretty rubbish but the EV owners today are the folks who will give us the decent EV's of tomorrow...I believe EV's are the future they certainly arent the present though.

An EV will always be limited by that which powers them, the battery and regarding battery construction, the laws of physics and chemistry are the major road blocks.

Just think. Those that bought EV's what are their worth? Nothing they bought a dud! I wonder will joe buy them back?

The electricity doesn't come out of thin air, it takes coal or fuel to produce it. Wind generators and hydro electric aren't enough.

My sister has an EV more so my brother in law does and my sister is just goin along for the ride They live in Hobart Tasmania australia Actually 15 or so minutes from the cbd that they visit or travel through Almost daily More so every second day say It's downhill to Hobart centre and uphill home They have 12 large solar panels on their roof So the EV goes on charge asap after travel He my brother in law states charging costs them very little I beg to differ Hobart is not known for its tropical weather and sunshine They were probably almost breaking even on their electricity costs Prior to the EV purchase Without basically doubling their output of rooftop solar they will b paying He doesn't seem to see it that way And is also considering now a house battery There's one other thing I noticed with the EV Range I've noticed when we get in the vehicle it states full charge range of 450 klm or so But then we travel 40 klm and it's dropped over a 100 in range when we get back from town It's quite steep out of Hobart city Towards Kingston But you'd think the downhill in would help but it doesn't seem to It sort of suits them but I think they may have a few logistic issues before they reap any reward They are fairly old too though I dunno it tends to not add up to me 55k for vehicle 10k to upgrade solar (with only the lesser aspect roof space left ) 20k minimum for a substantial house battery system 90 k at least investment Plus maintenance costs on all of the above and tyres Call it a 100 They have 10 years or so of independence left hopefully They both have ailments 10k a year for energy and urban travel for the pair of them 5k each per year I personally would not take their lil EV on a long road trip It's an urban commute and that's all Each to their own I spose I did speak to my brother in law about Battery replacement and disposal after it's warranted life He arrogantly said it won't b his problem and became somewhat defensive Ah well what can you do with that And they are prob in the best position to do this

On a road trip maybe, but charging at home with juice from solar panels is a dream come true for me.

Farming will be much less productive without fertilizers, machines or means of transport. We won't have to live in caves, though.
