There's so much contradicting information these days but one thing we can all agree on is that the price of petrol has gone up exponentially. How did Biden not get the agencies to do simple math and not only see these problems coming when he first made these policies against fossil fuels. It’s kind boggling incompetency. I am an old oil field driller We had gushers of oil the companies made us plug them but I thought at the time and is probably true they wanted the least to run out so the little investors would go away and then the big companies would open the wells later and most of them were kept for reserves just in Kansas alone We have oceans of oil under us that have been tapped and plugged We need to open our oil wells and get this stuff flowing.

I would argue it’s not even strategic anymore. Hasn’t been since we got most of our oil from shale. Every time we released our SPR reserves (Desert Storm, Libya, Katrina) in the past it wasn’t actually needed. We should abolish the SPR

I am now 75 but back in the 70's when the gasoline prices began to take big jumps upward ,a friend of mine told me " LOOK at the pump""., Half the price you are paying is in TAXES, both state and federal. If the government REALLY wanted to lower the price we pay at the pump, REDUCE THE TAXES.

The problem is that the US oil industry basically follows the same logic as OPEC+: keep production low and oil prices high in the short run. This is much more profitable than increase investment activities amid the threat from solar and wind.

There is a conflict in Ukraine that is a proxy war for the West vs Russia and by further proxy China. Russia has pushed itself in to a super tight spot and is banking on the holding the world hostage to its oil and energy. The sanctions are working and the west will profit off emptying the reserves at record prices. Phase 2 will be destroying Russian distribution infrastructure and then restoring the energy power balance. I would not want to be reliant on buying Russian Oil at the moment as it could get very expensive for you buying oil from the West once that tap is off. Bigger picture.

Permits that are too expensive to use because of lack of infrastructure. Translation - you will pay more because OBiden shut down the pipeline by executive order. They could bring the Keystone pipeline to a vote and we could see those who are for/against. They could also argue that each state has the right to ignore the executive order.

I for one regret my decision and seeing the havoc caused by this administration. I would like to see term limits placed on the Congress as with the office of the President. Congress and the office of the President and other high offices need to take a very deep pay cut in their salaries. I way I see it Congress for the "most" part come from the private sector and made money through their endeavors. We taxpayers are paying out our taxes for those in Congress to do nothing. Those who made a career in politics have corrupted the political machine and made it hard for the newly elected to make the changes needed. Sorry for thr long reply and all over the place with it. Bottom line the government needs to make right with the native tribes. Close the borders, look long and hard at the division between and bring us back united. This is my two cents worth.

During the pandemic the price of crude fell drastically due to the lack of demand caused by the lockdowns. This made much of the oil production the United States unprofitable, so they cut production. When everything opened up after the worst of the pandemic there was a surge in demand without the supply to fill it, causing prices to spike. Oil companies are having a great time with these ridiculous prices and have no real incentive to increase produ…. Oh never mind. Keep watching Fox. ALL of your problems are because of the Democrats, it’s much simpler that way. No thinking needed.

The real issue isn't revealed until the last 15 seconds. There's leases permitted to drill but, there's not permits to produce. Without those, all there'd be is 9000 holes in tbe ground.

It's not just the permits to produce, there are a bunch of related permits needed for production. Then there's the problem of moving the oil and the ability to refine the oil into something useful! The biggest impediment in the system is lack of pipelines and refinery capacity. The last major refinery that opened in the US was in 1977, there have been a dozen or small ones opened since then but they are all very small compared to what is really needed.
