I've heard a lot about sealing with foam in FL. They like to do it in temp controlled buildings when they build sheds, because it can cause it to be toxic in the heat and off-gas for forever? What could you do about the heat transfer from the metal into the building? How is it holding up? I would love to have a metal building, but SO hot in FL!! We put up some foam 1" stuff and I can say that a little insulation goes a long way!

All metal box tubing MUST be covered, take my word for it, the support bars again box tubing must be covered with Foam, you cannot skimp on thickness, you will pay ether way. So just save up your money, the absolute thinnest I would recommend is 4 inches. My building is 8 inches and in places 10 inches. (Ceiling) Yes this will be expensive, but you will need a much smaller A/C, that won't kill its self trying to cool (or a bigger one that will loaf and make it like a refrigerator. Then if it were not expensive enough, the Foam in the whole needs two coats of Intumescences Paint it is a heavy coating, (more accurately two coatings), that needs a special built sprayer, it does not coat a lot, it is expensive but is FIREPROOF, they do in fact call it fireproof and sometimes refer to is as fire resistant. Foam can catch fire and the smoke will kill you. Please believe me as the Gospel truth, I live in Southwest Florida, and I Know hot!!!!

For the gaps it’s a brush they sell at Home Depot or lowes to put there to seal it

How did you seal the top roll up door I have 3 of them… and how is it during the dead of summer and winter?

I think you should have had the studs sprayed instead of scraped off. Having the studs exposed broke your thermal barrier.

Is that open or closed cell spray foam, any problems with moisture or condensation? Thanks great video.

@@davidvelen9835 closed cell. No moisture issues so far. If it gets too much humidity because I left the garage door open, I just run an a/c for about an hour and that takes the moisture out of the air.

OK good news the more I read the more I plan on going with closed cell too, thanks.

I’m getting ready to get a building and wonder who you went with? I assume you’re in NE Florida?

Energysealjax. I heard it is less expensive to get it done in the fall/winter. I guess there is less demand. I had 5 quotes and energy seal was the least expensive, although I had it done in the middle of summer. Some companies only offered 1 inch of insulation and their quote was more. Make sure it is spelled out what you get.

Also, Energysealjax had it done a few days after I called. The other companies had a month or two wait.

@@billyalewine166 I used the “Janus rolling door top draft stop” under my video of the same name. It still works great.

Do you have any condensation issues on the tubes they cut the insulation off of?

I'm located in central florida and having a 24x40 building put up soon. Do you mind me asking what company you used for the insulation and how much it was?

Energysealjax. 5300. Two years ago it would have been about 3k. The three other quotes I had were for 2 to 3.5k higher. Make sure you shop around.

@@dsciarrino3663 I’m in Sarasota Fl, I had a 25x25 build. It’s bare bones on concrete. I’m bout to start sealing it all up. Do you have any recommendations for sealing the bottom on the roll up doors?

How thick did you end up going on the walls and roof?

Energy seal’s standard is 2 inches. That appears to be the standard throughout the project.
