This has been the best season of GSL in the league's 10 year history. Seriously. There's been SO many amazing series throughout the season, and it just felt like destiny that we should also have an amazing finals. This finals is up there with MVP vs Squirtle and DRG vs MMA as the best of all time in terms of entertainment. For pure skill, this one's by FAR the best. I'm BLOWN AWAY by how good these guys are. God I love StarCraft.
I would not go that far, there have been many epic series between the 4 horsemen of terran (maru, innovation, byun and ty), but it is definitely up there
To those that are about to watch this: you're in for a ride. This is what a finals series should look like. These two are just on a different level. Very much like their first finals encounter, these were insane games that could have gone either way. I am looking forward to this Maru/TY rivalry for years to come. Also, Banshees, let's goooo!!!
@@snowytail7882 In chemistry, reactions generally move slower at lower temperatures. This is true in other branches of science as well, because heat is just energy, essentially. So when you cool things down to the lowest temperature possible, absolute 0, everything stops and nothing happens.
Thank you all at the GSL for making all this possible. I've watched since Season 1, and all the messages from the Pros at the end were real meaningful. I will continue to watch every game and support every year! Hopefully I'll be able to fly down to the studio to attend in person :D
it's been shown that smiling can relieve pain. see kipchoge, the best marathon runner ever. he's smiling all the time while running, tricking his body.
@@tomleszczynski2862 Unfortunately, both already lost in King of Battles. Clem was the only foreigner in top 4. Raynor didn't even got out of the group stage. Raynor should join Code S again and we'll see how far he will get this time.
@@wotwot6868 Well koreans completely dominated this time, but last GSL vs the World foreigners dominated, zerg is less dominating lately and mot foreigners chances are zerg. I think Reynor, Serral and Clem are very close to top korean level, they can def beat all of them if they are on their A game.
@@Foudzing serral and reynor is definitely one of the top but I wouldn’t put them on par with Maru, TY, and Rougue. They haven’t really achieve much this year tbh.
@@Foudzing GSL vs the World is a show match in the middle of a Code S tournament. And that's just 1 of many tournaments. Most tournaments where Koreans are allowed to play are/was still dominated by Koreans. Note that I am not arguing that Reynor, Serral and Clem are not close to top korean level. Foreigners have historically gone toe to toe with Koreans in a few tournaments. Neeb, Elazer's Blizz run, Scarlett's finals against sOs (3rd and 4th is Special and Elazer).
What a phenomenal final,so back and forth, each game had so much nuance in it,it was no domination but a slugfest.Congrats to TY,he showed such highevel in this match.
Some sloppiness from Maru in game 2 allowed TY to come back from behind. But Maru's micro was being pushed to the absolute limit. I don't think he was prepared for good TY's micro has gotten.
Dam, great match, almost as good as the 2018 match but this time it went to TY. Dam I wanted Maru to win.... tough pill to swallow but can’t deny how good the match was. GG
TvT is my least favorite matchup, but I think this was one of my favorite matches. What a rollercoaster!!! Every match was so interesting and surprising. Absolutely brilliant!
@@masonlenox6829 Currently Reynor. Overall(currently active),- Maru, Rogue, Serral. Reasoning,- 1. Serral is meta player and his success period coincided with overall zerg domination(and this meta was created by Rogue and Dark). Other 3 were less dominant at their best, but they didn't care about meta and won when other people of the same race were not winning. 2. Their success lives much longer and relies on tournaments with full presentation of the best players. Most of Serral tournaments wins are without korean players. Maru - first premier win 2013- last 2020 (9 "international" premier tournaments won) Rogue - 2017 - 2020 (7) Serral - 2018 - 2020 (5 international out of 12 overall) 3. Serral never played GSL and never showed how he does in this format. TY is far below because he has issues with regular format. And when he was good at regular format, he couldn't win GSL. Overall best is life imho. But... *sigh. He didn't end good.
Wow! That was an incredible series! Maru was on his game today, he made some absurd plays and pulled out some near miracles there, but TY was just too strong. Insane games, they kept on getting better as the series continued!
artosisTV has a good discussion on the blizzard shift. Sounds like the bottom line is SC2 was not designed around a long-term sales model - they were planning on the 3 waves of box sales and then everything after that was trying to figure out how to justify the consumption of talent. Compare that to other games which have micro-purchases built in, or even SAAS like what, all modern productivity titles? The genre is going to have to get reborn with an architecture that will allow the same kind of long term stability in rules and concept, plus the ability to do balance updates, plus a pay model that keeps the designer invested. Or just releasing the title to be open source or something!!!!!
@@towTruck42 Poor execution and mismangement of the game should mean that they design a sequel to the series. However, not every single game needs mtx, granted i bought every skin for this game to support it but Blizzard needs to INVEST in the game to get a return, not half ass it like EA, notice how poorly EA games sell today compared to 10 years ago. Blizzard is on it's way as well because of bad decisions, which is tragic because I always want to support blizzard as much as possible, this is not a decision I can get behind, this is tragic. SC2 is the only good RTS, and now they have abandoned it, Pray there's a sequel to this series otherwise it's an IP that will go to waste and lose a lot of loyal customers of blizzard in the process.
really enjoyed this season. I feel there has been a gerat evolution of play this season. So nice that not every game was 4M or standard builds across the entire tournament. SC2 seems in a great place right now to enable interesting and varied games.
Because Gyuri doesn't egg anyone on to talk smack and get the hype going. 35:42 Just wouldn't have happened. No offense to her, but I think they make the right call.
man, i want both to win but I do like the slight underdog as well. ggs to both and wish them lots of health and success in the future. TY and Maru make sc2 so much better.
Was rooting for Maru, but happy for TY. What a series, no 2 games were the same. Heck, what a tournament! I sooooooooo enjoyed the entire thing from day 1.
