A real priest of music, so humble, so honest. Usually musicians don’t like to confess about their extensive practicing , they’d like people to think it comes out easy, naturally . Here an outstanding musician openly admits and proves that such high achievement is a result of superb gift and hard work. Especially touching was his mentioning of being unambitious which today is considered as a weakness, but actually it is a sign of a real call.
Beyond the work beyond the technique, there is in him so young a maturity and even genius, thank you to heaven for having offered such an interpreter to the world.
Thank you for the Eng subs enabling us to further grasp how remarkable Lim Yunchan is. What a lucky host family being able to listen to his practicing until 4 am especially when he cited his practice was better than his public performances. They granted Lim Yunchan the pleasure of freely playing.
He practiced 5 hrs a day at elementary school, then in middle school arrived home at 7pm and practised till 2 or 3 am. I am reminded of Helen and Paris ... this is no ordinary love.
@@유시-q3t Helen and Paris of the Trojan horse story, yes. But I was thinking more of the great love story (though a myth) that has been woven about them as lovers - passionate and consuming - brighter than the sun. I wonder, does Lim Yunchan have such a love for the music he creates.
Yunchan Lim Is THE greatest discovery of the millennium ever sInce Galileo discovered the Earth revolves around the sun He captures masterfully the pulse, heart and soul of every piece he plays, He exudes confidence, character and charm The audience can connect to his warmth, humility and genuiness... Yes , you Yunchan Lim, deserves without delay a blue-ray (or even 4k) special edition produced with professionalism and care.. Great profits quickly turn it from worldwide. I think that Yuncham deserves full and solid financial independence to become little by little a legendary composer.Humanity waits for this I hope he soon record the remarkable Sonate in B minor from Liszt, the stupend and unique Hamerklavier Sonate from Beethoven , the piu bello 2nd Piano Concert from Rachmaninoff, and my " Awakening to Life" special piano solo composition that only lasts a minute but means a full lifetime. - Yan Ayrton , ein junge klassicher Komponist ”Music is the universal language of mankind.” - YanAyrton , young classical composer .”To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.” - Ludwig van Beethoven. .”No matter how fast and accurate your fingers move on the piano, your music isn't complete without emotion.”. - YanAyrton >>> .ARS SEMPER.VITA PLENA. He is greatly connected with instrument and music. From this interview I am learning how selflessly he devoted himself to the music and how deeply he experiences this wonderful world of classical music. He wants to share his passion and love with us and he wants to do it at the purest level. Master YChL, you are this wonderful music already, and I cannot believe how lucky I am to live in times when not only I can experience your gifts at live performances but also on a repeat at home. That gives me endless opportunity to be immersed in your music, amazed, emotionally moved to tears. You are lifting my soul and inviting me to explore your world, talent, and interpretations. You are a legend forever. Wishing the time would stop for you so you could play every single piece for all of us in your unique passioned way. Live long, Maestro 🙏🏻
Poor kid. Locked in a room 12 hours a day, no time for friends and fun. After pushing himself to the absolute limit and winning a big competition, he tells us how unhappy he is with his playing. Now everyone is telling him he’s the greatest, when in fact he’s basically not much different to all the other prodigies. He is already admitting that he has no ambition at all, and the only reason he plays in public is for money. He wants to withdraw to the mountains to play alone - could that be because he already can’t stand the pressure our world is placing on him? Over the next 4 years prodigies will win piano competitions all over the world. For every 1 piano recital or piano concerto opportunity, there must be 1000 pianists hoping to take it. Is the entire concert pianist dream a myth? Who will look after this poor kid psychologically? Now, and in the future?
Don't worry poor man. He said he has great artist friends. I went to his resital in Korea on December 10, just a few days ago. After that enthusiastic recital I met his two best friends, cellist jaemin han and pianist jinwoo bae on the bus stopping at the Seoul Arts Center. Some people recognized them gave them a shout of joy. In korea many people having interest in him and his music know that he is funny and witty. Younchan Lim is a teenager loving music so much and has close artist friends interact with each other. He has so much time to mature in the future. He will have so much experience to enrich his life. He just a humble and pure minded teenager. Don't worry his psychological health...he just a teenager having a passionate interest in music. I will wait and see his growth of a musician. Supplementally I saw a tweet yesterday that Yun Chan and his friend Jaemin Han held a anonymous charity performance at a hospital in seoul of Korea. He want to gave that concert anonymous ly, but anyone at there aware that pianist and cellist are Yunchan and his friend Jaemin, twitted the story on twitter. In recent interview he said that he will do visiting charity for having difficulty to experience music. You can see that news using English subtitle (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tdwMKWlvIFU.html). Take care of your physical and psychological health, have a merry Christmas 🎅 and happy new year!
You terribly misunderstood the point... Do you know the genius violinist P. Sarasate practiced 14 hours a day for 37 years? Who do you think locked him up in the room for 37 years...? Then think about why Rachmaninoff said Music is enough for life but life is not enough for music. And I remember what Yunchan said : [There are vast piano repertoires that I can't play them all even if I'm born again 2 or 3 times. So I'm thinking about what to play in this life.] Let me tell you one more thing. One of Yunchan's teachers said : [Yunchan plays the piano for practice but also for relaxation and fun. Piano is a toy, a friend and a life itself for him] Please don't judge him by your prejudice and don't worry.
@@hannah_995 so are you saying Sarasate suffered no consequences after spending almost every waking hour alone for 37 years? Seriously? Yunchin might love music, but music can’t love him back, and the music industry is fickle and flippant. Perhaps you should read about how lonely Yuja Wang feels, and how she wonders “is this all there is?” after doing nothing but play concerts and practice almost every day of her 35 year life. I’m saying there is a very dark side to all this - can you see it? There are probably a million pianists as good as Yunchin, but so few organisations who will pay them to play.
@@whoisthispianist194 So what is your point, Practice makes unhappy? I understand the "lonely" that Yuja wang mentioned because it's the human condition but I don't understand the "Is this all" What does being a pianist mean to Yuja? I hope she will be happy making music. Lastly, you say there are a million pianists who are as good as Yunchan. I don't agree with you at all. He is one in a million.
@@hannah_995 don’t get me wrong. Yunchin is extraordinarily talented. I love hearing him play… My point is too much practise makes unhappy, unbalanced, and unwell. Plenty of great artists get by on 3 - 6 hours of practise a day. 12 hours is way too much. Also Yunchin sounded quite depressed about his performances - he was very disappointed with how he played. I really think he should take pride in what he has achieved. I don’t think anyone should be locked in a room for 14 hours a day to do anything, unless they are in jail for doing something reprehensible. Isolation does terrible things to our mental health. There are 20,000,000 pianists in China alone, and Chinese people have a strong work ethic so there are bound to be a million exceptionally brilliant pianists on our planet. Have you heard of the Cliburn Curse?
