That was some of the most gorgeous tuning of the Kagamine twins I've ever heard. Damn.

Fun fact: birds die if they lose even one appendage to something like frostbite Of course her hands are probably part of her wings when Ren's being a crane, but still, weaving like this involves crippling not only her human form but her crane form too. So she's essentially ensuring she would die if she went back to being a crane, say, if she loses Len. As a human, she might recover. But as a crane? Her wings, possibly her feet too would be too damaged to allow her to survive for much longer than a day.

I LOST IT AS SOON AS LEN STARTED SINGING AT THE END OMF

This is actually based upon a Japanese Folk tale. The tale is of a crane in which a poor handsome man saved from a hunter's arrow. After saving such a beautiful creature, the man went home, but the crane in return fell in love with him, and ventured on to find him in his rundown house on a snowy day, (Just as the song described it.) The crane became his wife and throughout the song, Rin (wife) continues to ask the man things like, If one day, I don't sound beautiful anymore, will you still love me? Inferring the fact that she indeed isn't a woman, she's the crane that he saved years ago. Overtime, the man develops a terrible sickness, and the crane will pluck her feathers and loom them into beautiful tapestries, which she desperately tries to finish in order to sell to acquire the medication she intends on buying for her lover. Before she started to loom, she cautioned her husband never to come in while she was looming, otherwise something bad would occur. Unfortunately, curiousity took the better of the poor husband as he peeked inside to find the same white crane that he saved that one day. The story goes that the crane looks up, weeps, mysteriously regains her feathers once again, and flies away, leaving the man with the last feather that she intended on using for him and the tapestry that she loomed out of her own wings. I’m not sure what happens at the end of this song, but I’m sure it’s similar to that of the folktale. It's a very Heart-touching story.

According to the original japanese tale 'The Crane Woman' Rin is a crane and she uses her own feathers to make the clothing, which causes her of course pain, therefore and because of the weaving are her hands bloody. And she only can live with Len when he doesn't know what she really is (in the tale the crane woman leaves forever when her man finds out what she is) And at the end he helps her to use hef last feather which is a sign that he knew all thd time what she was So she can heal him at the eny but she has go leave forever 💔

WHy do Japanese stories gotta make me cry something fierce.

Imagine the old version of Rin standing in front of a grave with white or yellow flowers, and saying how much she loved him(Len). She tells the story above, smiling sadly and reminiscing about their life together. After she finishes talking and whispering how much she loved him and still loves him to this day, she places the flowers down, turns into a crane, and flies away. As she finally lets her tears slip, it starts to rain.

Old japanese is very hard to live in. Imagine you and your love one living together,and suddenly one of you got infected with some illness,without any money.... all you have to do is to make a genuine product and sell it to town.Or even pray alone crying inside a chapel.That would be very harsh. I was almost imagining myself as an angel who fell from heaven and gave the woman a herbal medicine that would cure the man completely. True Love indeed Hurts.

I listen to this song so many times and i cant even understand japanese but dude rin and len's and any other vocaloids theire voice have this feeling to it. if someone says "robots singing? omg that means it's fake music! ewe wewewew no no." they're wrong. show them all the meaningful songs vocaloid producers make!!

Dear God I regret listening to this when I'm supposed to be studying, but, at the same time, I can't stop.

After listening a few (dozen) more times, I have decided to believe that in this video, using up the last feather means Rin can't become a crane ever again, and also obviously can't weave anymore cloths, and that is the issue, because Len doesn't go into her weave room while she is working in this song. Of course, if Rin can't weave, she can't buy Len medicine so.... I also am going to choose to believe that he got better, but not in time to stop her from plucking her last feather. So they both live, but Rin can't become a crane once Len dies (of old age.) THAT IS MY STORY AND I AM STICKING TO IT.

This reminds me of my grandma and grandpa. My grandpa just passed January 11th due to brain cancer in his home. My grandparents never had much money, and my parents helped them out a lot. Even to the day of his death, Grandad would always compliment my grandma and tell her how proud he is of her. This song always makes me cry so much due to that.

This has got to be one of the most beautiful vocaloid songs I have heard. Without knowing the words, it's powerful. Knowing the words and story behind it brings me to tears. Simply beautiful. Also, it's very catchy and I'll find myself humming the music.

I realize that when he says "I promised to embrace you when you lost your wings" He was waiting for that moment. In the original crane maiden tale she turns back into a crane when he discovers her, but what if if she no longer had her feathers, her wings, she couldn't turn back into a crane? Now they will live together for the rest of their lives. He will live because of the now affordable medicine. I have a theory that the dude is actually really smart and is faking it because he thinks that when her wings are gone her curse will be broken. Either that or he sought the disease. Or maybe luck just wasn't on his side. Come on, these two obviously deeply love each other and the girl must be cursed as she wouldn't do it by choice. Or maybe she doesn't want to be a featherless bird? But curse sounds more likely. He wanted her to know that he loved her even as a crane, and he wanted her to know that he knew what she knew. By breaking her curse he could secure the longevity of the relationship, Ensuring he doesn't accidentally see her crane form one day and she has to leave. Seasonal feathers, what if she doesn't have her feathers by the first day of winter her curse is broken? It seems like a more concrete curse breaking solution. Specific. It details the falling of the leaves similar to the way feathers may fall. Maybe I'm going into much into it, but I really hope that that is the way this actually ends and everybody is just interpreting the end wrong. If my theory is incorrect, then I'm copyrighting that theory up there, it's now my next big idea for the next hit game. Thanks and see you again next week! 😁

See this is why I love vocaloids they touch your heart

I recognised the story this is based from... It's about a crane [Rin] who is saved by an old man [in this song, Len, who isn't old.]. One day, a young girl appeared at the mans house. They were poor, the man and woman, so the crane started to weave beautiful cloths for them so that they could sell them at a high price. The condition was that they could never see her working on the cloths. One day, because the old man and woman were worried about the girl weaving so consistently, they checked on her and found that she was in fact a crane. They had broken their promise so the crane had to leave. Of course, the story in this song is slightly different to the version of the story which I remember reading, but it's beautiful none the less! :D

Guys, rin does not literally turn into a crane, and led does not live. Len died to illness, as the line "hurry before all the feathers are used up" foreshadows. Later, after the black and white scene, instances of a crane/feathers implies rin attempting to commit suicide out of sorrow for lens death, and her thoughts of len stop her.

My friend Angela Chen had introduce this to me. The storyline is so sad! It brought tears!! TT^TT Their love is beautiful~!! I love it!! ^^ It's wonderful, not not just wonderful, it's beautiful and sad!! Love, love it!! ^^

What if Rin was the one who got sick, and Len worked really hard to get the medicine for her. But as fate would say it, when he finally got back with the medicine and went to her room, he pulled away the covers to see a pile of feathers and blood. Distraught, he commits suicide to be with her once again.
