Very fair review, Chris.... I have played Engage for 3 years...and had the exact same review of the Ultra. I still love my MX Pursuit (I have 3 of them)...but since getting a couple of Legacy Pro's and weighting them head-heavy (like the Engage)...there's just so much more power, spin, and control. Can't believe a major player in PB like Engage would do so little to evolve this much-loved brand. Tyson often said Engage had some of the best technology out there (before the Power Air stuff at Selkirk). So, this is quite a disappointment...especially at $260. Hope they paid DJ a bunch of money, but I do bet he's missing his CRBN right about now! :)
Chris, can you add the Pursuit Ultra MX 6.0 to your paddle stats spreadsheet? I noticed that particular line item is missing whereas that will likely be one of the most popular choices for people since the original MX 6.0 is very popular and people will want to compare them.
This paddle fuhREEEEAAKING sucks, was grossly overpriced, instantly replaced by the Pro version, should have never been released, and should have either been recalled or patrons should have been awarded a huge discount to the Pro version. They just took it off the market and released their Pro version with T700!!! I dropped $500 on two of these lollipops and I'm pretty salty. Hit Engage paddles for 3 years, but never again. I just picked up the Vatic Pro Alchemy and a sixzero DBD and it's so obvious how Engage is a price gouging nonsense company I will never be buying from ever again. Pushing all my salt aside to say I love your channel and I've discovered my new favorite sticks thanks to you! Pickle on, brother.
Great review! Lifetime warranty? Is that a new thing? And on what? I have the pursuit MX where the edge guard is completely loose from 10 o’clock to 3 o’clock and a few cracks in the edging. After dealing with them they suggested I must have left it in a hot or freezing car for that to happen ( nope) sent them the photos and video of the paddle they requested..long story short they would give 50% off new one , then 60%. I was hoping to get it replaced,,, now they just don’t reply back. Not a fan of engage anymore.
@@trextrextrex oh trex, A) I did contact them multiple times. B) it’s engage not Selkirk C) what does being made in china or Buddha have anything to do with it?
The edge guards on three pursuits I have owned have come loose. I know of at least another five in the club where I play. It's pretty much 100%. Engage must have thousands of returns by now and still choose to do nothing to prevent it. They often take them back and send a new paddle, which is also ridiculous. All of that shipping back and forth and scrapping paddles from unhappy customers all goes back into the price they charge us. How about $150 bucks instead of $220, but the edge guard stays on for more than a month?
Agreed, the grit wore off in 2 hrs. It plays clunky. I’m a top spinner and this doesn’t give me the spin I’m use to with my other non Engage paddle. No improvement in control. Pursuit MX 6.0
I had high hopes for this paddle and it was very lack luster. I was assuming they would fix their edge guard issue which they did. But…… there is less power and the spin.
Hi Chris, Thanks for keeping us updated with upcoming pickleball paddles. Do you intend on making videos on: 1) how to improve from 3.0 to 3.5 to 4.0 etc? 2) pickleball strategies? 3) Pro's and Rec game analysis? IMO, this would be really helpful for the community. Thanks for looking into this
Probably not. I'm not great at breaking down the game for other people 😂 However, if you want that type of content, check out my friends Kyle Koszuta (That Pickleball Guy) or Jordan Briones. Both of them make the exact content you are looking for and they do it really well.
I play with the Omega line and enjoy it. Sad to hear this review. One thing Engage offers that no other paddle company does is a steep veterans discount. Under their “Hero50” program, I can order two paddles every year for half off. 20 percent standing discount on all other merchandise. After this review, which PBS always delivers professionally, I doubt I would buy on even at half off. Bummer.
When’s the last time you played with the original 6.0? You saying they’re poppy is kind of the opposite of what I’ve experienced. I played with the 6.0 for like a year and it wasn’t poppy at all, but who knows 😂
@@PickleballStudio all good man! I just know when I make suggestions during demo days the ladies typically prefer the lightweight versions. Thanks for doing these, always great info!
I got tennis elbow while playing with a CRBN 1x Power. I'm not saying the paddle was the main contributor, but I definitely appreciate how the MX Pro 6.0 LITE paddle feels as my rehab paddle .
Man what is Engage doing? When I started playing 2 years ago, they had such a great reputation. But this is just pitiful given the direction of the current market.
Disappointing. And despite Engage touting their paddles are handcrafted in the USA, I've had multiple of my original Pursuits have edge guards come loose in just a few months of use. They need to go back to the drawing board.
Garbage upgrade I have the legacy and it’s crush’s the new engauge but my new fav is the Perseus I got to use one and I like it. So 1. will be Perseus 2 Legacy 3 my old Hyperion Engauge lost this old time owner of
Just a heads up, not saying you’re doing anything wrong or need to change anything but I’ve noticed you say female a good amount. Usually I find people associate that with manosphere idiots online and I’ve seen people get lightheartedly teased about using it casually in the way you do in person.
Hmmm. 🤔 interesting. Thanks for the heads up. A bunch of ladies (women?, girls?) emailed me asking to mention things for them more, so I’ve been trying to add it in.
@@PickleballStudio Yeah I think that makes a lot of sense. I think those all sound better but I’m also not a woman so take it all with a grain of salt.
Ya so the Engage loyalists buy this stuff for the "feel" and disregard cost because to them cost never matters much. Paddle science here is an oxymoron🥸
