I'm sure this might have been mentioned, or already crossed your mind, but i would definitely go for a cowled hood vs cutting a hole or scalping the webbing in the stock hood to make a relief zone for valve cover clearance. Edit* spoke too soon.. Just seen the next episode..

yeah eventually I was going to install a proper cowl hood but ended up having to sell the car :(

I've been working on multiple 4.2 trailblazers for the past 2 years Gotten damn good at working on them. I can give you torn down pictures. Trailblazer motor removal tricks that you will not find on the internet. I might also have or can obtain information from the trucks/motors.

Could you send me a list of tips?

@jbender5935 Oil pressure switch should be changed at 150k miles or less. Once every year or two take the passenger cv axle out and pack the axle disconnect with grease. Cycle through the 4x4 settings every now and then to keep everything mechanical happy. take care of the transmission and they can last forever. Do not buy cheap lift kits that bolt to the top of the strut assembly. Put dielectric grease in the taillight connectors. Where I live rust is a problem so frame and body grounds have to be cleaned time to time. I change my oil between 3500 and 4000 miles because variable valve timing needs clean oil. Be careful with the front end while off-roading oil drain bolt hangs low. Parts are very cheap for trailblazers other than the transmission so it's easy to keep them on the road.

Hey man since the motors not perminantely installed you can probably space out your k-member to get an inch or so of clearance, also you would overall benefit from putting the engine further back, motor mounts will be easier to make, might get more clearance onthe hood to valve cover, and might not need to touch the driveshaft. Just build off your factory transmission cross member.

Yeah I've been debating spacing the k member, I'm going to be doing more testing with the hood on and see

@@CelerityAuto Yeah alot of guys with foxbodies re use the stock trans crossmember and just weld a thick steel plate to it to match up with their new trans location, instead of building a whole new one. Also will help with shifter location.

@@thewraith6360 very true, I've also got to figure out if I could even get some of the bellhousinf bolts in with it moved back an inch or so. There are remote shifter kits for this trans which could also be a good solution for the shifter. Hard to say how much should be changed until the hood is back on

'06 - '09 engine has many upgrades compared to the '02 - '05. Plus it makes 285hp. If you want to learn about the Atlas 4.2 Vortec go to NIVLAC57's channel.....this dude knows his shit about these engines.

He's the man who inspired me to do this build! The main reason Im going with the 02-05 motor is for the crank, and we'll it was free so can't complain with that!

Unless you are going solid mount I'd hop on Amazon and grab trailblazer motor mount isolators they last and dampen the motor very well.

What did you use for a flywheel. Crank has an odd pattern
@CelerityAuto
@CelerityAuto Год назад
Custom flywheel made by emtech, fits a Colorado 3.5/3.7 clutch and a small block Chevy clutch. Just have to have a 3.5/3.7 starter ring gear pressed on when you buy one from them

Most likely what I'll do, make some space to bolt in a bushing. Thanks for the support!
