PART OF TEXT VERSION OF COMMUNICATIONS THAT I'M ABLE TO INCLUDE HERE. Do you want more? Write in comments and I'll give you remaining part of text communications (Read if subtitles in video were fast):
FDX1201: Regional Departure, FedEx 1201 Heavy, with you, passing 2300 climbing 10000 via.
DEPARTURE: FedEx 1201 Heavy, Departure, radar contact.
DEPARTURE: FedEx 1201 Heavy, turn left direct to HANUH, maintain 10000.
FDX1201: Left direct HANUH, 10000 and…
FDX1201: Roger.
DEPARTURE: FedEx 1201 Heavy, climb and maintain 17000.
FDX1201: FedEx 1201, we’d like to stay at 10000. We’ve got a little problem here we need to work.
DEPARTURE: FedEx 1201 Heavy, maintain 10000.
FDX1201: Maintain 10000, FedEx 1201.
DEPARTURE: FedEx 1201 Heavy, just let me know if you need any assistance.
FDX1201: Yeah, we’ll let you know, thanks.
DEPARTURE: FedEx 1201 Heavy, I just need to know, you’re about to exit my airspace. Are you gonna continue on the flight plan?
FDX1201: We’d like to stay in your airspace. We’ll… We had a number 2 engine engine that's rolled back so…
AAL1406: American 1406, we’re climbing 2000 for 10000.
DEPARTURE: FedEx 1201 Heavy, roger, turn left heading 020, maintain 10000.
FDX1201: 020 heading, 10000, FedEx 1201 Heavy.
DEPARTURE: FedEx 1201 Heavy, do you need vectors immediately back to the airport or do you need to hold, hold and burn some gas?
FDX1201: We will not need to dump gas. We don’t need to burn gas. We're just gonna have to run some checklists before we come back. So you can put us somewhere out of the way for now.
DEPARTURE: Okay, just give me an estimate how long you think you need.
FDX1201: Probably 5-10 minutes and then we’ll be ready to come back.
DEPARTURE: Okay, you’re good where you are, FedEx 1201 Heavy, just expect vectors. I’ll just box you around out there to the east. As soon as you can let me know the exact nature of the issue so I can pass it on to the Tower.
FDX1201: Okay, we had the number 2 engine flamed out and it will not restart. So we're just basically engine out at this point.
DEPARTURE: Okay, roger that.
FDX1201: And we have 5 souls on board.
DEPARTURE: Okay, and can you give me an estimate on the gas?
FDX1201: We have about 2.5 hours of gas.
DEPARTURE: Thank you, sir.
DEPARTURE: FedEx 1201 Heavy, turn left heading 270.
FDX1201: Left heading 270, FedEx 1201 Heavy.
FDX1201: And Fort-Worth, FedEx 1201 Heavy.
DEPARTURE: Yes, ma’am, go ahead.

THE VALUE OF THIS VIDEO:
THE MAIN VALUE IS EDUCATION. This reconstruction will be useful for actual or future air traffic controllers and pilots, people who plan to connect life with aviation, who like aviation. With help of this video reconstruction you’ll learn how to use radiotelephony rules, Aviation English language and general English language (for people whose native language is not English) in situation in flight, which was shown. THE MAIN REASON I DO THIS IS TO HELP PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND EVERY EMERGENCY SITUATION, EVERY WORD AND EVERY MOVE OF AIRCRAFT.
SOURCES OF MATERIAL, LICENSES AND PERMISSIONS:
Source of communications - www.liveatc.net/ (I have a permission (Letter) for commercial use of radio communications from LiveATC.net).
Map, aerial pictures (License (ODbL) ©OpenStreetMap -www.openstreetmap.org/copyrig...) Permission for commercial use, royalty-free use.
Radar screen (In new versions of videos) - Made by author.
Text version of communication - Made by Author.
Video editing - Made by author.
HOW I DO VIDEOS:
1) I monitor media, airspace, looking for any non-standard, emergency and interesting situation.
2) I find communications of ATC unit for the period of time I need.
3) I take only phrases between air traffic controller and selected flight.
4) I find a flight path of selected aircraft.
5) I make an animation (early couple of videos don’t have animation) of flight path and aircraft, where the aircraft goes on his route.
6) When I edit video I put phrases of communications to specific points in video (in tandem with animation).
7) Together with my comments (voice and text) I edit and make a reconstruction of emergency, non-standard and interesting situation in flight.

Hate to see the MD-11s having problems here recently as I love the old bird, but a phenomenal job by the crew and the controllers. Glad they landed safely! Thanks for a great upload!

@@pubgpickle8761 Don't be an armchair pilot for the MD11. It's a 30 year old airframe without the #2 engine. You have no idea either which configuration of MELs are on the tail number. When the engine 2 fails which is the tail engine you cannot continue on.

@@pubgpickle8761 are you an MD11 mechanic? The MDs at FEDEX are top tier maintenance. It's the cream of the crop for MD11s. Problem is we dont know if these are CF6s or the Pratts. FedEx uses both on the MDs. Don't act like you know anything about FedEx. Go back to your video games. Engine failures happen more than you think in air cargo. Especially with the CF6-80C2D1F they're not made anymore and finding ones without high timed cores is getting harder and harder as the aircraft ages. The next generation engines don't share common parts either with the models.

At 6:30 the controller is saying "weather is better than 5000 and 5" not "visibility at 5.5". This means the cloud ceiling is above 5000 feet and the visibility is better than 5 miles.

Ive watched a lot of these and I love them. The professionalism on display is impressive. I know a little about pilot/ATC lingo but I am not familiar with the five-letter words, seemingly marking spots on the ground the plane is passing? HANUH?

Well done by all! I remember having to shut down #2 on a 72 a long time ago. I recall thinking this is my lucky day- if you have to shut one down the center engine being the culprit makes it a lot easier.

1:43 if its an emergency and the engine is flamed out, cant they just come back to the airport as soon as possible instead of taking more time in the air? just curious

They needed to run checklists lol
@brandonadams7837

3 engine aircraft, running checklists is way more important than rushing things the aircraft is fine that was barely an emergency much less one to rush to get on the ground.

Wonder what caused the engine to roll back and flame out...
@mcdonnellsinc
@mcdonnellsinc Год назад
@Ysalomet. this isn't an uncommon "event" for the MD-10/11. Due to #2 engine being located above and aft of the fuselage (where the fuel tanks are) a minimum of two higher output pressure fuel "boost pumps" are needed to supply fuel to that engine. Due to the age of the aircraft and lack of new spare parts. The reliability of the #2 engine fuel feed pumps are poor. In short, if you lose one pump, the backup pumps may not provide enough fuel pressure, during higher demands (take off or climb out).
@Ysalomet
@Ysalomet Год назад
@@mcdonnellsinc Oh ok thanks... I was thinking some foreign contaminant in the fuel could have blocked a crucial fuel line or something...

standard phraseology
@saxmanb777
@saxmanb777 Год назад
It’s required to say it that way, such as one zero thousand, one six thousand, and so on, until you reach the flight levels at 18,000 or flight level one eight zero.
