Great question. Honda actually recommends synthetic 0W-20. You can however use a higher viscosity oil to get better engine protection. The reason Honda uses 0W-20 is to be able to get higher Miles Per Gallon rating, but that is at the expense of engine wear, as the oil is thinner, so the internals will wear faster. I used 5W-30 for greater wear protection, as the MPG are less important to me compared to getting my accord to 500k miles, and the loss in MPG isn't significant when using 5W-30 either.
The biggest changes are more power and better fuel efficiency. When you clean the gunk out of the engine, it runs more efficiently, like it was designed to run from the factory.
@@Stimwalt I might switch to ow-20 because it improves mpg & it’s basically the same as 5w-20 and causes no different, just thinner which helps clean better
