Each Island in One Piece is said to have unique magnetic fields that the log posts align to for navigation. That magnetic field may help with the explanation of Enies Lobby hanging like that.
potential spoilers: after Punk Hazard we have fair ground to assume that every TOO unnatural looking island is that way because of the actions of a past devil fruit user so that POTENTIALLY explains the enies lobby island about the never night thing tho the only explanation possible is a geosynchronous natural (or not) satellite that provides sun-like light 24h/7 (remembering that globe in the library of Ohara with multiple moons) like that is, in a heliocentric earth, which the world of one piece have never given us any reason to think otherwise that is the only explanation I can think of
@@pifilixxiv3192 Not at all. Places at high latitudes get more sun in the summer/ and significantly less sun in the winter (or vice versa in regard to the southern hemisphere). High up Scandinavia, Russia and Iceland there are very short nights or even no sunsets at all during the summers. This is more obvious in these places as there is not a lot of populated landmass at such high latitutes in the south. This is because Earth rotation axis has a 23 degrees tilt compared with Earths orbital plane with the sun. Over the span of 6 months the sun will move 2*23 = 46 degrees higher in the sky, which at high latitudes is enough to never have it pass over the horizon, or never reach up over the horizon over the span of a day.
Since an altered gravitational acceleration wreaking the gravitational force is out of the question, perhaps instead there is a upward force acting on the island to counteract the force of gravity
Another great video man, i love these. This isnt structure related but i look forward to when science tries to break down dyno caps from early dragonball
Ah! That’s a great idea, I’ve got my next few videos plotted out and I was skipping thriller bark for the time being, but I’ll need to revisit! Thanks for the comment 😃
@@onstructures np since your doing that, do you think you could do a video of Enel’s ship or how the fuck does big mom ship even work despite being such big ship made out of food or are you not good with ships and those ships are too complicated
not big on physics or engineering, but I would assume the in-universe reason why enies lobby is able to stay up is because of the same type of localized anomalies that cause islands to vary so wildly in climate and enviroment despite not being that different to eachother, especially assuming the grand line is a sort of equator.
It could have a good amount of seastone, which is like a magical material of OP world. If some outside force created the hole, then that would explain why structures beneath it collapsed while it stood. Over time, it just got enough dirt on it that it doesnt affect the devil fruit users walking above it
My theory for how the island floats is that an awakened zushi zushi user permanently changed the gravity on the island allowing it to float as for the island always being day no clue but if we ever see lulushia at nighttime and it’s dark we know it wasn’t the weapon that made it always day
Ok, what if it was being post tensioned by Rocks D. Xebec on the tension side of the cantilever, holding onto a seastone chain? Meanwhile the big island is hiding a giant pulley that transfers the load to the ground.
100%. Enies Lobby is not a naturally occurring land mass. It's a man-made structure built through unknown means by the World Government after a certain incident. I think the aftermath of the Buster Call helps to substantiate this as well.
Can you look at the Great Naruto Bridge from the Naruto manga, and why it is so important to the Land of Wave arc. Also, I want to learn how the Hokage Rock was possibly built.
Very minor spoiler, but: My completely random theory is that they use the same technology they have to travel upwards to marejois in the island, or artificial clouds. I think that island is 100% artificial and it's structure is made with either sky islands technology or bubbles technology (it's revealed more ahead in the story but it's pretty much just "strong bubbles go up")
Your biggest problem here is that you're assuming normal force in the one piece world. The second is that you aren't even considering pyrobloin at all. it's a mysterious substance in the one piece universe that causes objects to do whatever Oda wants them to do.
I once saw speculation that the endless day of Enies Lobby was caused by a previous user of Kizaru's light fruit, in the same way that Punk Hazard was transformed by the other Admirals and that sort of weather change is potentially what Awakening a Logia can do. Perhaps, just like Punk Hazard, Enies Lobby was actually the site of a battle between Light and Dark. The Darkness Fruit might have created the endless hole in the ocean and, since it also does gravity stuff, is somehow responsible for the impossible island.
@@onstructures "Well actually" Wouldn t a gravity fruit make even more sence? It could easliy change gravity around the island downwards while leaving the island in the middle alone/ pushing up. And it does not have to push things above the island upwards just everything underneath it. (Although that might create a waterpilar under the island which is not actually there.)
@@satoutatsuhiro866 Spoilers Narratively, Enies lobby being the location of a battle vs light and darkness makes a lot of sense. And the dark powers have been shown to effect gravity. Punk hazard wasn't caused by any old 2 powers ... it was perfect foils, Fire and Ice.
@@Shiftarus Spoilers: What makes more sense it that it was joyboy/nika because nika is the sun god so he could create endless sun in theory and the dark fruit user created the whole it would also make sense considering Blackbeard is one of luffys final enemies
Now i have read and Seen One Piece multiple Times, so i know exactly what he Is Talking about. But i Wonder what it must be Like for people Who only heard about it, and never read it. Especially when He Said that the Main building got slized in half by a giraffe
What I find problematic about Onigashima is the scale - to me it's never clear, how big or small the whole place is supposed to be. The oversize / monumental swords and skull don't help. Sometimes the place looks modest, sometimes it looks like its own little planet..
It's being held up by the same force that seperates the water. Something in the island is making a force downward strong enough to keep the water separated and appear as a bottomless hole, and with a force pushing down an equal force is pushing up on the island enough to be a valid load.
For anyone not fully caught up with the manga nows your chance to look away. A recent chapter in the manga shows a similar "hole in the sea" from a recent big "incident" that occurred to an island. The fact that it looks near IDENTICAL to the hole in Enies Lobby makes it pretty clear that whatever was used on that island to cause the "hole" seems to be the same thing that caused it for Enies Lobby. Im trying to be vague for anyone who is peeking and isnt fully caught up. However, I would theorize that this hole is more than a waterfall. It seems like whatever caused these holes is creating some sort of void space OR removing the space and everything in it permanently. Its very difficult to understand what the power truly does yet but its almost as if the water cant naturally flow into that area even though natural laws would normally allow it to. Theres some sort of "force" preventing the natural flow of water from occurring. Which makes me think either theres a consistent force pushing down on the sides of the water or a force consistently repelling it as if something IS there. I believe the hardest part of this puzzle is the fact that Enies Lobby and the small islands are capable of existing on top of that space/water but it seems as though it might be all manufactured to exist there almost to try and hide this hole thats been created. My biggest interest is if someone or something were to fall into that hole, what would actually happen? Would they be forced down further into it.... or possibly would they be repelled away?
It’s such an enigma! I wonder if oda will ever help us answer it. Best I’ve seen is someone who commented here claimed it’s like a kizaru v Blackbeard (light v gravity) battle took place
I've never been one who's able to keep up even with basic math at times but I was able to visualize and understand everything discussed in this video. Great analysis, plus its about One Piece and that's always a plus, definitely subscribing!
Wouldn't the air being displaced by the water create an updraft to apply an upward force to help keep the island keeping it stable? That would assume the hole is being filled in with water at a greater rate than air can fill in the same volume. And knowing what we know now about the world of One Piece is the hole being filled at all? Currently the easiest answer come from Lucy Lawless "a wizard did it" but in this case a df user did it.
I assume the internal composition of the island is made up of seastone. Island clouds are created when pyrobloin, the main component of seastone, is blasted into the sky and enough moisture is absorbed. So seastone is light enough that it can float in the sky under certain circumstances while being harder than diamond. And the island would have to be composed of a material strong enough to withstand whatever punched that hole in the ocean around it.
Seastone would make the most sense since, like you describe, it can be lighter than air yet stronger than diamond... which makes it sound like it can do anything! That would make it more than 100x stronger than steel, which perhaps is strong enough to exhibit this type of structural form. Though who's to say how this formed, we still don't know that much about it. maybe it was made after the hole was formed, or perhaps devil fruits are at play...
that's a really great point. In the case that there is some tension resisting reinforcing in the bridge, I'm still guessing that based on proportions there would still be an excess of demand on the system. Maybe I should've put some numbers to it!
My thought is that one of the ancient weapons was used there, and somehow affected time. That’s why the hole in the ocean never fills and Enis Lobby never falls. Basically, the hole in the ocean is paralleled by a “hole” in time that prevents the effects of the hole from ever resolving. Thus water never fills it and Ennis Lobby never falls.
As a OP fan, I found this fun and presented / explained in an entertaining / nice way. : ) And I have no idea what keeps it up, my motto is to never question One Piece logic. It's the most whimsical and fantastical anime / manga out there.
Glad you liked it! Of course OP is a supremely fantastic world, but that’s what I like about it, especially since oda makes attempts to describe it himself
