Species: Artificial Life Real Evolution is an evolution simulator that allows you to create, destroy, observe and tinker with life on it's never ending, harsh march of refinement! Simulated from the very first principles of evolutionary science:
Variation
Every creature is uniquely defined by its genes.
Mutation
Child creatures are slightly randomly modified versions of their parent(s).
Natural Selection
The environment affects every creature in their struggle to survive.
Observe or Guide
Whether you just want to observe, watch and study as the tree of life constructs itself from a single species, or you want to be an active influence on the development of the species in the game, the choice is up to you! Take a hands-on approach by using the nursery, an isolated area where you can tinker with the gene pool to your heart’s content. Use rovers to decide which creatures get to eat today and which ones starve! Create global catastrophes like an ice-age or a world-spanning flood to weed out the most vulnerable species. Or simply sit back and watch the life-and-death saga unfold!

However you treat your evolutionary sandbox, we give you the tools to tell it’s story! View every single evolutionary step in detail using the clade diagram, see where each species are living using the satellite map, get a better picture of how varied your gene pool actually is with the web of life, and view every possible detail on each creature using the creature inspection tools.

Hmmmm that would be interesting. I think that this wouldn’t happen for these reasons: First of all, giving birth AND having a pregnancy takes a lot of energy. Even if the baby’s ate it would be easier for the mom to just eat it if the baby’s can. Also very low chance of the baby growing up

@Bad Cattitude This is basically what scorpions in deserts do. Whenever food is relatively abundant they make as many kids as possible, which feed themselfes soon after. When food is relatively scarce, the scorpion can find lots of younger scoripions, including it´s own babies, that have grwon while food was abundant and can be eaten as a food reserve. Don´t take parenting advice from them though

The results make sense. The creature evolved through eating it's own. When presented with new species it didn't grow initially because it doesn't see anything other than it's self as a food source after being dumped into an entirely alien biome.

The AI was programmed to kill the species in the vector [Species], but there where species that arent in the array neither relationed with another of the array, so it used the 0 position, itself... When they learned how to kill others, was in the end of the experiment

Well, more fun than spore? it depends. if you make a small and weak species in a Hard Mode world, it can lead to some fun till tribal stage, after that its just the usual. Like, i made a Pikmin species, and their best abilities were social and sneak, but 70% of the other species were agressive, so i needed to be basically a ninja and have lots of friends to survive XD. it was a great time till i reached City stage, which is basically the same on every run you do.

As an American there's two things I tell Aussies when they talk about how rough it is in Australia. 1. Over here it only gets up to 45C in the summer , but it drops to -25C in the Winter 2. Grizzly Bears can hit 55 KPH in less than 2 secs. *As a side note* How to tell if it's a regular brown bear or a Grizzly Step one :Climb Tree Step two: If it climbs up the tree to eat you it is a brown bear If it knocks the tree over to eat you it is a Grizzly.

@@glennchartrand5411 Australia also has places that get to below freezing on a regular basis. We have bears that LIVE in trees. We have EMUs that run at 50kph and can turn 180 degrees at that speed. We have Ostrich's here as well and they can run 70kph. You can see a bear coming, you do not often see many of the world's most deadly spiders and snakes before they are already upon you here in Australia. Australia has the greatest variety of deadly fauna in the world, mostly because it's a country as big as America but located closer to the equator and thus has more climate zones.

Having your legs suddenly broken just by walking around in the scrub is not a great day. Their holes are dangerous enough but they really just do not care if you are in their way or not when they start running.

Great stuff! But seems like they learned to sleep to fight against the heat instead of changing their bodies to tolerate it better. And only survived because you can breed without much cost. I think it would work if you could spawn food around the map that doesn't burn up, so the creatures must move to be more successful. But I've never played this, so I don't know if it's possible. Or perhaps just moving the heat up more slowly.

He could have assigned mechanical rovers to selectively feed creatures with desirable traits like mobility or regeneration, and kill creatures with undesirable traits like narcolepsy or pacifism. That's how most people make Zerg type creatures in this game. Usually the result gravitates quickly towards very powerful natural attacks and psychotic aggression, with resilience and mobility being harder to select for (because transspecies combative competition tends to favor offense over defense) TLDR, he could have set up the scenario much better for his stated goal, but he was probably trying to be funny and to illustrate the unintuitive and sometimes wacky nature of natural selection.
