Elliot looks more like a Field Spaniel than an English Cocker. I had a Fieldie for 13 years - they're great, fun loving dogs. The females are more independent than males, unlike most breeds. I don't know English Cockers very well, I've only had American Cockers. But I do know all spaniels are wonderful, at least now that the mis-breeding of American Cockers and English Springers is behind us (as far as I understand).
looks like an english cocker to me, though having looked it up field bred cocker spaniels are just a subgroup of english cocker spaniels that look perhaps slightly different, i have trouble seeing it though
I have a cocker spaniel pup who has a little something else in her, she looks like an English cocker but she has a tiny stubby tail and a little bit of a shorter snout
