G and I took this cute little English Cocker Spaniel out to run with the big dogs and to our surprise, not only did she keep up, she was still fired up and ready to go when it was time to leave! #shorts #englishcockerspaniel #stonnie
I have a small black dog I adopted almost 10 yrs ago. i was told she was a dachshund cocker spaniel mix. She is beautiful, absolutely gorgeous and the most loving dog I can imagine. She has been a great hiking companion despite her 7"-8" legs. I finally had her DNA tested and she was not at all what I was told. 44% Chihuahua, 31% Beagle, 12% Boston Terrier, and the rest is cocker spaniel. I see nothing of the other breeds in her appearance, but she looks like a 20lb version (exact replica) of your English Cocker spaniel (black). That 11-12% cocker must be some strong DNA.
I had a black and white English Cocker, she was the smallest dog I ever had so we named her Pixie. We lived in the city and she always hated going for walks, but when we were in the country, she would hike all day. Lost her about 3 years ago to old age. Wow she was a pretty dog.
Hey Stonnie, the Mrs and I here at The Villages Florida met the sweetest black English Cocker Spaniel 8 week old puppy this afternoon. Of course the Mrs asked the two youngins if she could pet it, and she did. The kids named it “Peaches” because they’re from Georgia. What a great name for a sweet puppy. It was all wiggly and adorable.
please, please show us more of Holly! Looks like a working line cocker spaniel to me, as the ears are not overly long and heavy and they are known for their endurance
Would you be able to show Holly running around with the labs? Because that was quite the seal of approval! I’ve always wondered if working English Cocker spaniels recharge faster than labs.
I have a yellow lab and an english cocker. The cocker keeps up wit the lab when we go pheasant hunting and even hunts harder than the lab in hot weather. The lab tends to overheat if it's over 65 degrees or so. See my channel for videos of them hunting together.
My family had a red English Cocker. We got her when we lived in Tripoli, Libya from a couple from England, the Reeds. Mrs. Reed told me all about the Blitzkrieg and other stories about the war in London and how when a motorcycle went by people would dive under benches on the sidewalk thinking it was a V2 Buzz Bomb. Elsa was a great dog. They're very different from American Cockers, to be sure.
OMG what a gorgeous place - and dogs!! actually some of the nature you have shown us reminds me a little bit about Norway. . You should come visit Norway one day. I bet you and your family would love to go on hikes and see the awesome nature we have.. The fjords.. it is amazing. . I have a question.. can you do a video about what we in Norway call,, " overslag"... With that i mean the dog getting over excited and doing a second behavior to cope ( or actually becaue of not really coping) that might be humping a toy, having a zoomie, biting/jumping on its owner.. like a redirected energy "attack ". I would really love to hear you take on this :)
Thank you for that. Your post reminds me to be more (as Stonnie says) 'calm and attentive'. Lots of young kids in the park this afternoon and my 7-month old GSD/Lab pup started jumping all over me.
That little pup looks like she's fresh and ready to GO! If that's after keeping up with No Name for a couple of hours, that's quite the little pup right there. Lookin' forward to seein' more of that little sweetie.
Well, with Cockers you really have to do some research on issues they may have. Their ears can be quite a maintenance ordeal. Labs, especially black labs (my favorite!), are fantastic on being easy clean up, and fairly low maintenance on grooming. Labs are wash and go. Cockers require much more intensive grooming.
English Cockers are great dogs. We breed them fairly regularly and it is shocking how little known breed they are. Great family dog. Very affectionate and highly motivated.
Has Stonnie ever posted a video that includes a duck tolling retriever? We have a pup of that breed, and I think she would just love running around after the mentor labs.
@@Starry_Night_Sky7455 it's a bit excessive, haha. Apparently their original name was 'little river duck dogs'. Cute and accurate, but also lacks brevity.
I had a black Lab when I was a little girl and I now want to get a black Cocker Spaniel once I'm independent. My Lab sister (she was older than me, and was put down the week after her 11th birthday because she had skin cancer) was named Ebony, and I'm gonna give my new dog a similar name like Midnight or Shadow. Two of the best breeds for sure.
I have an English Cocker pup aged 7 months called Biscuit after her dark brown fur. She loves water and running. She's full of beans but highly strung and needs TLC and understanding re the Cockerdile tendencies!
Make sure and make the distinction that this is a Working Cocker, as opposed to a Show Cocker. We have an awesome German Wirehaired Pointer and I think her buddy will be a Working Cocker. Amazing, energetic and intelligent dogs. So cool.
No respect for the golden doodle. I know I know the coat, the coat. Hey I can't help it. This doodle feels like the greatest dog I've ever been lucky enough to own. The cocker is a beauty.
Dear Uncle Stonnie, A training equipment question. When going around your small challenges course, do you use a rolled leather slip lead, a flat leather slip lead, or a rope slip lead ? Thanks, MB
Didn't have to see the video before I gave it the thumbs up...the title was enough 👌 I have a Sprocker, Cocker x Springer Spaniel (I'm English) and he's been the best, most loyal, energetic, gentle and intelligent dog I've ever owned...love him to bits 💜
