In this tutorial we take a look at how to enlarge wide turk's head knots.
Basically, the technique is the same as the one used for enlarging square turk's head knots.
In this tutorial I enlarge the 3L8B turk's head into a 5L14B turk's head knot.
Enjoy the tutorial!

Thank you for this! The clear instructions made complete sense and helped me quite a bit in my quest to learn not just the turks head knot, but more importantly the principle of expansion. Great video series when you put all three together.

Mark, thank you so much for this video! I've been trying to learn this turks head for a long time but kept giving up. I finally made it tonight for the first time thanks to your direction. I hope you have a great holiday!

How would you do it with two colours, because I don't know what point you should melt it together.

Very nicely done, Mark! I've always wondered how to do this one. I accidentally created a 3L5B from leather cord that I wear on my wrist, but haven't been able to figure out how I did it. Now I can redo it with confidence. Happy holidays!

Paracord guild in the Ashley book of knots it doesn't tell you how to tie the actual knot P.S. I'm only 12 years old and I can tie a ocean plait I'm in the sea cadets too I really like your videos but their a tiny bit fast for me I've also subscribed and turned on notifications your videos are really good thanks for going to all the effort to make them from Andrew 🙂

Mark I would like to expand this knot to use as a 3 pass, 5 lead hat band. Came across a pic of one and it looked to be 48 bights. I have a hat block I can use as a mandrel. Would I create bights by crossing the standing leads going completely around the the hat block then lay tracks and split them? Thanks in advance, also appreciate your vids; I have learned much from them. Donald

What is the cord diameter? could you post an ebay (or other online shop) to buy this cord ? and the needle? how much it usually cost?

At the beginning and end the video shows a Turks Head with Two colors. However the tutorial shows only one color being used. Can you show us how ? You got the second color into the knot? May I say your tutorials are the Very Best! Well paced, with pauses for clarity, and clear verbal instructions. Location of camera, lighting and light background make your actions very visible. Keep up the good work!

Nice, but aren't you mixed up 'wide' and 'narrow'? That knot has more bights than parts making it a 'narrow' Turk's Head Knot. A Turk's Head with more parts than bights would be a 'wide' Turk's Head Knot.

Hey! This is quite a common debate :). Usually the classification is either "wide" or "long". The confusion comes because some look at the knot when the mandrel is horizontal, others vertical. I like to be fairly traditional and refer to the knot as it would be vertical (like placed on a whip, where many of these knots are used). Either way, as long as you can back up your reasoning you will be fine :). Mark

I'm just giving the definition as I've found it in several books, including Ashley's. Heck, even Wikipedia defines wide and narrow this way.
