Enneagrams & Gift Giving 

Enneagram 5 here and I would honestly try to find an excuse to get out of the party, because having to explain in front of a crowd what one of my favorite things is and wondering if everyone else thinks it is frivolous or not so great would give me so much anxiety. Or I would just buy something I know that people in that particular group love and just pretend I think it’s great too.

Enneagram 9 here, don’t care a lot about gifts, definitely not my love language, but, if I needed to bring a gift it would be something practical or consumable, like wine or cute notecards. Love to buy local as well! Love you guys, always adds a smile to my day! ❤️

I'm an enneagram 5 and I had to think about it for awhile before commenting because I truly had no idea lol. I think I would bring my favorite college ruled notebooks (they have covers that don't tear or get dirty) with nice pens, because that's something I use every day and enjoy. You can take notes, make to do lists, brainstorm ideas, and a million other things with them. Possibly also neutral colored fuzzy blankets because they're warm and awesome for a cozy night at home. I might also make some of my favorite homemade sea salt spray for hair. It costs almost nothing, but it works so well and smells amazing because you can put a couple of drops of whatever essential oils you like in it.

I loved this... 7w8 Favorite things: Cannon Ivy printer, for when you need to travel and have "printed documents" on the go. It's 2x3"... They never said what size, just that it was printed... 😜 Also, takes cute photos as memento thank you gifts. Bronzing body butter from Pacifica. To look cute in that swimsuit. Reninol cream by Medix (I give this to everyone). I lost a lot of weight and now have crepe skin, this stuff is awesome! Makes me look 10 years younger. Dry shampoo in powder form by Luna Nectar.

I'm a Six -- I don't know that what I would bring to a Favorite Things party would necessarily reflect my type (I'm not going to give people baskets of hand sanitizer and masks, for example -- I don't think -- hmm, might be a cool thing...) but I might bring a Mary Oliver book, or a set of good-smelling candles or Norwegian chocolate or something I think OTHER people would enjoy. I'm pretty picky about my own gifts, so I don't know what to tell you I would like to receive. The olive oil is a cool idea, and the skin care products (as long as they're organic and don't have nasty chemicals in them). Ironically, I wouldn't want to RECEIVE a book, as I'm picky about those, too. So that probably wasn't super helpful, LOL.

Enneagram 8-I would probably bring something practical like cute kitchen towels and Moleskine notebooks, then I would definitely be the first one to leave once gifts were opened. I am one person who will never wear out my welcome because I always get in and get out as fast as possible-whether it’s shopping, parties, or any other event. 😉

I think I'm an enneagram one because the idea of getting a cleaning set (Meyers at that!) on my birthday seems absolutely great

I'm a 7w6. Gifts are at the bottom of my love languages. I just recently felt like I figured out why. I put a ton of thought into gifts, I want to give something that shows "I get you". When people give me gifts that show they do not "get me", it bothers me but since I want everyone to be happy, I'll pretend I like it (as I am figuring out how I can regift it). When thinking about my favorite things, my first thought was a game or chocolate or maybe a homemade gift certificate to take you out for lunch or coffee and dessert (quality time is my second on the love languages).

My Bible study group did a favorite things party for Christmas, and it was a blast! I'm a 1, and I brought teacups. I love tea and found a set of four teacups on Amazon so it fit in the budget, and I loved giving away something that is special to me. This would be super fun to do for a birthday party!!

No I’m a 4w3 I don’t like to receive gifts because I have really specific taste. I prefer consumables or experiences for gifts. What I would bring to the party for favorite things - probably some pretty candles or decorative soaps, a hand painted mug, a hand painted scarf, maybe some macarons or other decorative sweets.

Type 1, and honestly my most recent fave is Bic Gelocity Pens 🤣 I’m not sure I would actually take them to a gift exchange because I don’t think anyone else would care about them the way I do…

I'm a 7 really easy to buy for any variety or things to interact with rather than things like artwork /decor unless its quirky or photographs☺️

Enneagram 3 w2 here - as a gift I probably would have bought something that's a little bit fun and probably riding the edges of something popular - like maybe I'd bring bullet journals for people, or those really great Bombas running socks - something like that. BUT... I can guarantee you that whatever I brought I would be far more concerned about bringing something that nobody else would have thought of than actually whether or not it was cool. Also - THE MOST IMPORTANT part of all of it (to me) is the wrapping - I would have blown people away with my wrapping. Because, you know, presentation is everything. 🙂 Also - Happy Birthday Michelle!

Ha! My sister is an 8 and LOVES balsamic vinegar! I’m a 5w4 and I misunderstood the gift instructions, so I brought all different gifts based on the people who I knew would be at the party. A cute little throw pillow, a nice set of pens (that was fought over by some 1s), and a wooden decorative thing with some flower bud vases. None of which I would have gotten for myself. Haha!

As a 5w4, I would also have to think about it for a week to decide LOL. I'd also have to decide if I'd even feel up to going to a dreaded party to participate in, not help plan. But like the 4 (Leann), each item I'd bring would be diff from each other, at least one unique/local brand, and both practical and pretty.

We do our favorite things with my family for christmas. Instead of a typical gift exchange! It's so fun! I'm a type 7 and loooove presents.

I would find this so stressful, trying to choose something that I think is really cool, but that is also universally appealing. Plus the idea that I might go home with things I don't really like, just because my taste is different from other people's. I guess it depends on the group of people. :) I'd probably bring silicone spatulas, or snacks. (1w2)

I’m a 9w1, and I would most likely end up bringing a scented candle or a cute coffee mug. Which I realize sounds just like a type 9 stereotype, but there we are. 😂

I would likely bring whatever book most recently rocked my world. Otherwise, some really good chocolate or coffee. I'm either a 3 or a 9.

I am a six and if I was to give you a gift it would be something that combines a particular interest of the person I am giving the gift to so in your case whatever I would bring you would have yellow in it somewhere. With something I know would generally be useful to you so maybe like a journal for you to write jokes in for preparation in making these videos.

I am a counter phobic 6. I would consider all options and opt for keeping it on the safe side - something that is personable, yet also guarantees the person will like it. I would avoid giving any clothes or earrings etc In case it’s not the correct style someone would want to wear. Even if I know them (just in case they don’t like it or already have something similar etc). I would consider the person being gifted. Evaluate all angles until I find just the right thing to gift them. It would most likely take me hours or days to figure it out. But most likely it would be a great gift and safe to know they will like it! I’m scared to give people gifts they could potentially not like. So I couldn’t note one specific gift as it would depend on who it’s for. My favorite things.. I’d maybe bring a book I really love like “Healthy as F*ck” by Oonagh Duncan that many people might enjoy and benefit from or another book on wellness I really love and think others will too, and maybe some organic fruits (strawberries, blueberries etc). They are so yummy. Or I might bring some home made golden milk with the recipe for everyone to take home. They can try it at the gathering and take the recipe home! (It helps you relax and fall a sleep so I would consider something different if it’s daytime). These are a few ideas but I would go through ALL my ideas, then consider various things then after much analysis decide on the best idea… that’s my answer with no filter. Usually I spend way too long deciding before answering..

Gifts is my love language! My husband always has to comfort me when family members don't get me gifts for my birthday because I legit feel unloved and discarded, meanwhile they wrote me beautiful messages EVERYWHERE. Haha! I'm also an enneagram 9 and I LOVE FOOD so I would probably bring homemade baked cakes or cupcakes or biscuits or brownies or something as my favourite thing! :-D

I’m an 8. I’d definitely bring something beauty. Accessories, skin care, perfume, something like that:) I also thought about mrs. Meyers hand soap before you even started because I love the smell and it feels like a treat since I usually but the cheap $1 hand soap!! :)

5w6 here, and I too would do just about anything not to have to attend a party. Although I would happily send along three of my favorite books with a handmade bookmark inside. Parties are too stress inducing for me, and when/if I do go to a party I never know if I've had a good time until I get home and review the 100's of pictures I've taken.

9w1 - I'd give stationery/notebooks and pens, a plant, or some really good dark chocolate!

Hi Everyone, I’m a one and seeing all of these nine’s write that they don’t know what they would do, aren’t good at gift giving, etc. You guys need a pick me up. My daughter is 22. Since she was age six, she is the one in the family who gives the most thoughtful gifts. She makes them personal. One of the sweetest was last Christmas. She had graduated from University in May so she took one of the family photos from that day and had it transferred to canvas. I’m sure a lot of other nines are just as sensitive as her. So chin up guys. 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

I'm a 1 and my wing also wants to be a 1. I gave cleaning supplies as gifts to ALL my friends for Christmas this year... and last year, and the year before. Today I will apologize. :)

9w1...I would overthink the gift from day 1 and likely end up last minute grabbing something not actually my favorite! 😂 Even just considering what I would bring to said imaginary favorite things party is giving me stress.

As an Enneagram 7w6, I would bring Pilot Frixion erasible pens and/or a rocketbook planner/notebook. I'm working full-time and am taking 9 credits, but I can use my planner and not stress if things change and plan in some fun each week. Regular pens stress me out too much commitment (negative Enn 1 qualities on full display) and way less fun. I use these at work, too.

Love this! I have no idea 🤷🏼‍♀️ if I’m a 2 or a 4.. I’m not such a free spirit as is depicted in the 4. I oil paint and watercolor but not often.. never make time for. I’m thinking I’m more a 2. I do unfortunately care what people think. My mother in law is an 8 and I feel I can’t relate to her at all. She seems “distant” to me. Any advise being a 8 on how to approach mil being a 2 I’m thinking? 🤔
