Enrichment For Gerbils | Before & After

It is nice to hear that the channel has been helpful to you :) In general, I find that small animals will love the natural & free items as much as those from the pet store. For instance, wood pieces, branches, hanging ropes, plant pots, rocks, pipes etc seem to be very popular. I used low dust horse bedding (which comes in bales) mixed with hay to help hold the structure of their burrows. I believe the wooden structure is from the brand Trixie if I remember correctly. Mine live in a Detolf too!

@Forrest Mcgee ikea detolf's are cabinets originally built and designed for displaying items in your house, like a tall and long glass cabinet. Rodent owners got the idea to flip it on it's side without one side of glass, as a very long but somewhat narrow enclosure for their animals to live in. It doesn't come with a lid of course, so you can DIY it. (usually mesh lids are used)

@thecasualtrollingpuma Yes, I have a fifteen gallon tank for two, and most of they're toys are sticks, cardboard and wooden arches and tunnels. I make most of this myself, and they love they're home. I agree with you, thecasualtrollingpuma

They are sold online on the rodipet website and are very expensive ( over £100 ) xx

Nederlandse Politiek I have 3 male gerbils and they get along well together. I have read that female gerbils tend to fight more than males.

Hello! I have two gerbils and they are such a joy! Definitely get more than one gerbil, they are very social animals. also, make sure they have a cage that allows them to burrow because they love burrowing. They chew a lot so it’s a good idea to get them plenty of chew toys. They should also have a wheel in their cage and a sand bath once a week. I hope this helped! They are pretty low maintenance but still require a lot of care and love :)

both dishes a water botttles are fine. dishes need to be changed every day. they give the gerbil a more natural way to drink water. if a little bit of water splashes on them they will be completely fine. it is very rare for them to actually become fully submerged in water.

probably not because gerbils can chew through plastic super fast. a 40 gallon breeder tank would probably be good.
