Saw a performance by Enrico Rava in HK a few years ago. Wonderful player with a beautiful tone ... He played some things that were truly inspiring ... plays from the heart. I think he's no longer a young man, yet his playing was full of power / fire / and endurance. All that is apparent in this clip.
"Spleen" is a French word used to describe certain trend in literature or music compositions close to melancholy. This recording has all the ingredients to capture those feelings.
