Ensuring the genitals are fully embalmed

Are you dying to know?

In this video embalmer/mortician Tracy tackles the sensitive topic of ensuring the genitals are embalmed - if you massage the rest of the body to circulate the blood and make way for the embalming fluid do you have to massage the private parts too? And does embalming the penis cause an erection?
As usual, Tracy explains clearly how a complete embalm is ensured, in an honest and respectful manner - you'll probably be happy to know there is no graphic imagery to accompany this video.
We have received a few questions on this topic so we hope this gives you the info needed to put your mind to rest.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to send them in, although please be aware that we have many comments and questions to answer and while we are working through them, it may take us some time to get to yours. But we do enjoy and look forward to hearing from you.
Until next time folks,
Take care & stay safe,
T&T xx

I assumed when you inject the embalming fluid that it would go through all arteries and veins and I never thought about having to massage the tissue and muscles as well as injecting smaller areas separately. I can understand the mother’s thoughts about how her son was handled in the funeral home and the need to know everything. I hope this put her mind to ease. Thanks for sharing.

Hello ladies! I have to admit, like Trish, I did not know that. I meant to tell you, going down the RU-vid rabbit hole the other night, I was shocked to actually come across a video that showed parts of a body prep and embalm. It included closing the eyes and mouth, incising, locating and raising the vessels, placing the tubes in the vessels and a bit of the cavity work. It was fascinating to watch.
@Areyoudyingtoknow
@Areyoudyingtoknow 10 месяцев назад
Hi Dave, nice to hear from you! Yes, there are vids that show it all - we have an ethical issue in doing this and in my situation, its not appropriate to ask most people who are grieving if we can show their loved one on YT. Still, we understand totally that people want to see this - it's fascinating!
@DavidGrub

@@Areyoudyingtoknow Of course, I agree. I was just surprised that RU-vid allowed it. They are so squeamish with certain things. But, I guess as long as it is considered "educational", they allow it. Hope you two ladies are well! Hugs from the U.S.

Very respectfully answered. If you listened closely when a body is being repatriated the genital area will decompose quickly if not properly embalmed.
@JoannaLamont333
@JoannaLamont333 9 месяцев назад
I’d never have even thought about that question, but I found it really fascinating. I just assumed the fluid would just automatically fill up everywhere inside the body 😂 Here in the U.K. embalming is not the norm so I find it to be a weird thing to do to a body. I’m not sure I’d want to be embalmed 🤔 Thank you both for your videos & being so sensitive when answering. It must be very reassuring for those who are going through this process with their deceased loved ones.
@Areyoudyingtoknow
@Areyoudyingtoknow 9 месяцев назад
Hi, we don't want to be embalmed either. Yes you are right the fluid does go through the whole arterial system but often some areas of the body do not receive enough fluid to preserve as long as the other parts of the body that did receive enough. Theses areas are often the genital, feet, hands, fingers, nose, eyes and ears. This is were we need to do hypodermic work to add the extras fluid it didn't receive originally and especially the pressure point where the body has contacted with the table. So yes it's a long process but we don't what to sent someone home for a week and find out a few days later the body is starting to smell bad because we didn't bother injecting that foot that did not receive enough fluid so has started to decompose even though the rest of the body looks great. Thank you for your question take care 😊💚

My son had a autopsy first before funeral home.But when I went to pay for funeral I saw my Son already casket the day before funeral.Shouldn’t he have been in refrigerations to preserve the body for viewing? By the end of service he was turning black,why? There gnats around him in the casket,why? I also thought there was smell about him also.So needless to say I was very upset that maybe he was not closed correctly during the embalming and smell from stuff used was escaping? Why turning black.I decided not to stand directly in front of casket at viewing,because I was afraid others would notice the smell and turning color.What went wrong? Thank you for reading this and answering.

Wow! This was never even something that I thought about for. • Does bring me to a question that is off topic. What happens when someone has chosen cremation, but might have had breast reconstruction & now has prosthetic implants or as those that don’t understand the procedure would refer to them “implants”? Let’s just say for the purpose of this question the individual has high cohesive gel prosthetic implants vs saline prosthetic implants. Would both styles be safe for cremation or would the high cohesive gel need to be removed?

Great video lovely ladies. I never thought about this subject but it is very interesting. I did not have my mother embalmed and do not plan on having myself embalmed. Since my mom only had a grave side service with closed coffin, I will do as well. I do not see it necessary.

This may be a really stupid question, but if the body is in the casket and only half of the body is exposed for viewing, why bother with embalming the penis if it’s not even going to be seen? 🤔
@Areyoudyingtoknow
@Areyoudyingtoknow 8 месяцев назад
Not a stupid question. The reason the whole body needs to be thoroughly embalmed is because, if we were to leave any areas un-embalmed these areas will start to decompose and smell bad. Embalming is to preserve and sanitise the whole body not just parts. Thank you for your question take care 😊💚

Is embalming done just so that there can be a viewing? Also, if embalming is not possible is the sealed casket required only so you can have services w/o the decomposing odor?
@Areyoudyingtoknow
@Areyoudyingtoknow 2 месяца назад
Hi here in Queensland Australia we don't do many embalm's it's not always necessary. We do plenty of viewing without any embalming taken place. If the body is badly decomposed we can still embalm and this will get rid of the smell so the service can go ahead without the worries of any odours accruing. Thank you for your question take care 🙂❤️

@@Areyoudyingtoknow Just asking cause my little brother was found dead in his appt, I'm pretty sure he'd been there at least a couple of days. I wasn't shy about asking the funeral director questions about coloring, blood pooling and such. He basically said embalming wasn't an option and we needed a sealed casket.

After autopsy and organs are put in the cavity in a bag, then the cavity is injected with embalming fluid does the bag get injected as well?
@Areyoudyingtoknow
@Areyoudyingtoknow 9 месяцев назад
Hi Pam, the organs are embalmed separately in a container full of embalming fluid while the rest of the body is been embalmed (this is only autopsy cases) then the organs are placed into a clean bag and sealed back into the cavity, no injection of the bag. Take care 💚💚

Hello T&T !! I was wondering if when someone is donating their bodies to science do you get those bodies? Or does the place they will end up get them? And what do they do to them? I am planning on donating my body as I have loved science all of my life.
@Areyoudyingtoknow
@Areyoudyingtoknow 10 месяцев назад
Hi, donation you body to science is an amazing thing to do. We only received the body into our care at the funeral home very briefly. Basically we offer the service to the university's to store a person in our care until the university has done all the paperwork that needs finalising after death. We don't do any preparation to the body at all. The universities will either embalm the deseased persons or opt for fresh frozen, meaning no Embalming and been frozen then defrosted when student doctor need a cadaver for training. Having a body that's not embalmed apparently give the students doctors a more realistic training experience. Thank you for your question take care 😊💚💚

@Areyoudyingtoknow

In Australia you can definitely choose not to be - as long as you are buried in a week to 9-10 days and kept in cold storage it should be ok - all depends on the circumstances around death though. ♥️
