I am 43 and have to wear nappies aka adult diapers here in the US. I have radiation enteritis from cancer treatments as a child in the '80's. So it won't be embarrassing when I die as I have had to use diapers for 35 year's. I Love Your channel, it is refreshing and helps me still cope with the loss of My Mom & Dad just a month apart. (It has been 7 year's ago, but feels like Yesterday). I am disabled and alone.

Very respectfully handled video ladies. Not the easiest of topics but informative. I remember watching a video by Kari the mortician about when plastic undergarments are used for deceased. Open coffins and viewing times prior to funeral are unheard of where I live in Scotland, though Tracy many know if this happens elsewhere in the UK? I've had alot of health problems inc being as near to death, without dying, from heart failure, in my late 30s, and surviving. I've had therapy for various issues and therapist believes I have ptsd from the heart failure issue and I'm waiting for an appointment to get assessment for diagnosis confirmation. Due to this event and the experiences with my mental health since I've decided to plan/pay for my funeral incase if it happens again and I don't survive. My therapist and family all think this is a sensible idea. Do to many health issues since childhood I have always been more aware of my mortality and thought of my funeral plans etc. Seeing a channel like yours and others gives me information and has helped me make the right choices for me. Thank you. BTW I'm 43 yrs old now.

At my brothers viewing I noticed a "pink" stain on the satin cloth near his left side of his neck in the casket..I was horrified. I immediately let the funeral director know because I didn't want any of the other guests to see this. He apologized profusely and proceeded to do something but I didn't see what he did..I was in tears. My brother died suddenly of a massive heart attack and this was all so shocking to all of us let along this. I had absolutely no clue as to what this could have been but now after watching these videos, I now know more. But how could this happen?

Hi Tracey and Trish! I’m in my 8th month as an embalming intern. I’ve also never heard of the purse suture method for closure. Sounds like it would be difficult without a way to stabilize the lower extremities. I’m trying to picture myself trying to do that on my own and it’s not graceful! Once again Tracey you are on target with your care of the deceased. I would think the risk of perforation is high utilizing plugs. Sadly, I have had patients begin a purge prior to death and it is very distressing to their loved ones. Education is so important at the end of life even if it is a potential.

This is why I’m going straight to the crematorium lol ! No poking and aspirating my bum and other parts ! Also no funeral no hassle for family to come see me off ! Remember me the way I was happy 😃 ! Just my opinion! Peace ✌️

I knew a mortician when I was a kid. I asked these questions. He pretty much said this. He also talked about plugs that get put in your holes.

I saw a post by Kari the USA based mortician where she showed the plastic screwin plugs I have to admit they do look brutal. But if course the 'recipient' is dead and would feel nothing. Whatever is necessary to alllow family to say a final goodbye with no additional distress or trauma from unwanted leaks! 😊

Sometimes literally everything let's loose as you're doing post mortem care right after the person passes in the nursing home

I'm from the UK but live in the US. I completed Mortuary Science School. In the US, funerals happen within a week, yet I've noticed in the UK that when someone dies, it literally takes WEEKS before they have a funeral. Even for a regular death. I would love to know why it takes so long to have the funeral...

I know of someone recently who was held for a month before burial. Also the funeral was open casket. I can’t imagine what the funeral home did to keep the person good until then, I figured they’d at least have odor ?

I wish someone like you looked after my baby niece cos there was black green stuff running out her little nose I’ll never forget that sight 😢

Once the human body dies.... after that nothing matters. The soul lives on. Dust to dust...... the best is yet to come in the next eternal life. No complicated leakage etc.....

I worked as a RN for 20 of the 35 years i had my license, and saw many deaths, and done the initial postmortem care on dozens of people. It's interesting to hear about what happens after someone is sent to the funeral home. I've wondered... and after the last of the family I grew up with died many years ago, I asked about watching body prep in the funeral home, and they told me it was possible, but once I'd dealt with my dad's death (the 'business' part of it), I didn't want to see anything.

I loved how she considered one option better than the others because it’s soft or fluffy. It does seem more kind . It shows her heart. Very kind. One question. There was no mention of how they would stop the leakage of a male. I assume the cotton wouldn’t work with the male anatomy.

Hold up, so I don’t want my body interfered with whatsoever when I die, now I just thought I needed to say I don’t want to be embalmed or “hygienically cleaned”… stick a pad on me and a shroud and send me on my way…. But aspirating I now need to ensure that won’t be done either?

Mine leaks and I'm not even dead yet! (Colostomy last Saturday).

These are things that I never thought to ask about. But she brings up a very good point. Kind of like using a cork. I’m never knew they used uneducated people to help prepare bodies. But it makes good sense. You’d think they’d use a silicone caulking in the ants vagina and other. She did an excellent job explaining.

having cared for a lot of aged and sick cats i've seen and smelled all the gunk that comes out of a deceased being.

I'm a Canadian funeral director. I'd lose my license if I made a video like this. Funeral directors in Ontario Canada are treated bad. Funeral homes are somehow exempt from WSIB

But if a body leaks, doesn't it smell? What if it happens during a viewing, wouldn't people smell it?

Sorry ladies another question, as I'm in the UK I don't really know how things are done here, I would hate that plastic plug up me, so how would I approach the situation for my family in regards to my prep when I die. As you say its a very difficult subject let alone speaking to my daughter about it.

Question, What happens if you go to embalm and dress a body for a viewing and find out though medical records hidden from the family or hidden surgeries or tattoos that the person was transgender? Do you still present the body as the gender that the family thinks they are or what the person was trying to achieve before death? Would love to know more about how fellow LGBTQ+ are treated after death. Thanks again for these great educational videos

Do menstrual hormones/where a person was in their cycle when they died have any effect on how well a body 'takes' the embalming fluid?

Here in the US they put on plastic pants apparently

but if you are confident that nothing will come out of the orfaces then why put on a diaper? and if leakage happens while diaper is on wouldnt there be a smell?

Also i have a question about the ✨physics✨of it. Ive seen a few autopsies before, but havent really seen the purge part. I have a hard time imagining #2 just coming out non stop, because poo usually takes some effort to get out when ur alive, like it wont come out if you simply relax 😅 so how? Does it like... Liquify? Or does the other fluid like blood and gas build up so much pressure that it pushes out? Like a death laxative?

All the things, nappies and objects in plastic...are they go in the ground? I find it not sustainable for the enviroment at all. We should just decompose, like all the living things. In Italy, we don't display bodies. We don't put plastic on them...or in them. Never ever.
