Brings back memories when I would drive to NY to see my girlfriend from Florida. Charlie I found your channel about a month ago and have been hooked ever since. Keep up the great work my friend and stay safe. If your journeys ever bring you to Florida let me know. I would like to shake your hand and meet you. Thank you again, Jim
Thanks for watching. Florida is on my list. Only been there once in Jacksonville. Actually had a little footage from there, but my camera was stolen in Detroit before I could upload those videos.
You just don't knowhow much I appreciate you Sharing the social and economical differences from the political standpoint and the gentrification that happens in almost every city and state. I may not physically travel to these areas but by you I am there and I pray for everybody God knows The challenges we face and as people we need to continue to try to work harder and keep praying for a change.... thank you again for giving us these videos and God bless you...truly 🙏🏾
lol... I couldn't understand why he went through to a 'CASH ONLY' booth and then asked to use his debit card?? I would have like to see the persons in the booths face; looking at him thinking, "Are you for real bro, did you not see the cash only sign back there??"...lmfao But an awesome video though, nice and clear!! Thanks!!
@@markrush5013 guess you don’t know how an EZ Pass works because it’s for the entire road network that supports the EZ Pass system. You can use a Maryland EZ Pass transponder in NYC and vice versa
That bridge is crazy. Live in a place where you half to catch a boat to get home, and was stuck on that bridge for 20 mins! Missed that boat by 30 seconds
This is so cool! I can’t tell you how cool this is but I love it. It’s like being there. I’ll probably never get to see this up close so this means a lot. Thank you.
Haven't been on that bridge since the 70's when Dad drove us kids from NJ suburbs to our cousins in the Bronx. Thanks for the reminder. I was amazed at the ironwork.
Been there done it. 55 yesterday no more major road trips for me Thank you for what you do .Keeps me from missing the drives ..The Air .is not so exciting .
My old hood. I grew up there, I used to live at W 180th street and Cabrini Blvd. I must have crossed the GW on a bicycle thousands of times. We had relatives on the Jersey side, I remember the $.50 (cents) toll driving back into the city. Thanks for the memories and for posting your video.
I live in New York and travel these roads and bridges on a daily basis, N.Y. doesn't have the high crime rates like Chicago and is actually pretty safe for a such a large city, unlike Detroit their aren't any burned out or abandon areas. However is it an insanely expensive place to live and very crowded, the traffic is just brutal. Trust me though if you wanted to live in Harlem you probably couldn't afford it and that is not an exaggeration. The taxes are really criminal, every imaginable type of tax, state income tax, city income tax, sales tax and on and on.......
Born and raised, you know, family, friends, career etc. It is an awesome place to live, it is hard to describe it accurately in a youtube comment section but New York really offers its residents a lot, you wouldn't know it but we have great beaches, great fishing and boating. The professional sport franchises, the history, career oppourtunities, the culture, the sights, shopping and food. I have traveled to different parts of the country and you just can't match the quality and diversity of the food, I am not talking about gourmet 5 star cuisine, I am referring to some of the basics like Pizza, Chinese food, Bagels, ethnic foods like Italian and Greek, it is really special. Don't get me wrong N.Y. has more than its share of negatives but over all it is a pretty unique place to live, even with its insane cost of living and horrific traffic. This isn't a knock on any part of the country at all, it comes down to the individual.
Again, It comes down to that and how many people chase that very feeling they get from the city. That's why it's so expensive to live in, with such a great demand for apartments. Many people want that lifestyle. I could say the same about San Francisco or L.A at this point (in regards to the expense of living in a great city) Traffic is shit in all of the aforementioned cities. Only N.Y even compares as far as public transportation goes to being worthwhile.
j k I've never been to New York before but the way you described it sounds similar to how London appears to me. Lots of people seem to complain about the defects, and the way you wear describing New York sounded like you couldn't wait to get out of there.. but like you said you been to other cities, and they can't just match the qualities your city possess, and such reasons are why I wouldn't swap London for any city in the world.
That's my neighborhood! Washington Heights.. hope you got a chance to speak to some of the locals; we've got some very interesting folks and great culture here haha
I enjoyed the video. That was brave of you to go into New York because, like you say, the traffic is horrendous. Now if you could win one of those nice lNY ottos that would be so grand. Thanks.
On Wednesday 17th March 2021 I crossed the George Washington Bridge. They did not accept any cash, so I had to use the Pay-per-plate option. When the moving van crew went a week earlier, from Texas to Maine, they had also problems with toll roads where cash was not an option.
@@eastsideqc I drive an 18 wheeler here too. Just wanted to see what the lower level looked like lmao. Luckily I drive at night so the traffic isn’t always too bad, but can be a nightmare if there’s snow.
Many people, like myself, would give their right arm to live in NYC! The diversity, the culture, the happenings, the walkability...it's all just unbeatable!!
I would never want to live in New York or the city of New York. It is way to expensive and dirty for me. Just give me a place in Montana and that would be perfect. I can say this because I have been to both.
Just drove though there this past weekend for the first time ever and , I meant to stay on 95 to go into New England but I was in the same lane 3:52 and didn’t see the 95 thru traffic sign until it was too late lol, too much traffic to quickly get over and gps didn’t tell me that. That was fun getting honked for going too slow reading the signs as a lost guy not from there 🙄 😬😓
Hey just an fyi when you head back home consider stopping in Ohio if you take the turnpike to pick up an EZ pass beacon. Im originally from metro Detroit and had to drive to Rhode Island for work often, you will save $$ and time with an EZ pass. Most states only offer EZ pass discounts if you are local but Ohio's turnpike offers a 50% discount to anyone who uses EZ pass. Ohio sells the beacons at each rest stop and they work any place that uses EZ pass(entire northeast and midwest). Just some advice, great videos btw. Im currently overseas for work and these vids, good and bad, make me miss the US. Especially Detroit. For all its' struggles I absolutely love Detroit and being away has just reinforced my love for it.
Yea thanks for the shout out to your hometown. People like to dump on Detroit just like they did on NYC back in the 70's and 80's but guess what ? Detroit is a great town and just like NY it is coming back , getting better with every visit I take up there. Things may have gotten a little worse than they were in NY at it's nadir but a new generation has asked themselves why do I have to live in this boring suburb when I can move downtown and have some fun. From Motown and Greenfield Village all the way to now the rebuilding of the beautiful Central Station Detroit is world class ! I'm not from there but I will say to all the haters of urban life three simple words : stay home loser !
It was a mad house! Just Left the Bronx, and I'm telling you, my living in the south vs the north has totally changed added my dad passed away 10 months ago so New York as I once remembered is now long gone!
I've never seen any US toll roads or bridges that take CC/Debit. Is that usual in other states? I know that there are 2 or 3 Easy Pass type of systems that are used across multiple states but I've never seen any of them accept a card at the booth. I'd be interested in hearing about states or interstate roads that do accept a card onsite.
just as I left New York City, on my way back to to the airport in my rental car, Alicia Key's "Empire State of Mind" played on the radio. What a great way to end a great trip to the Big Apple.
I live in Rhode Island my state Is the smallest but even the Poorest parts are beautiful Compared to Camden NY or other Places Mississippi Chicago Etc. After a few days of watching Your videos I see that my governor mayors are doing a wonderful job with my state To keep it clean. I'm very happy to say I'm proud of where I live and thanks for your videos taking the time to do them🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
