Always do a walk around and document damage with the agent before taking possession of the vehicle. Even if the scratches are superficial, still have the agent annotate it on the rental agreement. Also, consider taking out the CDW ($20/day) or use a credit card with primary rental insurance to completely avoid being held personally liable for damage.

Or bad brakes/tires, needs professional detailing due to smoke or fluffy, ect. Often times, locations have no cars due to having to give up to the airport on demand or sitting with too many cars. Some days can take 2-4 hours to get a run of cars.

Title is misleading. I understand you’re upset about being given a pickup truck, but this happens sometimes. There are situations to switch out into different vehicles at different branches. This has nothing to do with “giving a black customer a hard time.” Not everything has to pertain to race. You signed the contract, and the employee went over everything with you. You didn’t get your way, so it’s considered giving a black customer a hard time.
Honestly when I was an employee, I kept these interactions as short as possible. If they’re arguing, it’s unlikely you’ll get them to admit anything no matter what you say. I would tell people that the claim would be generated and they can debate with the damage recovery unit, I have other things to take care of 😂

I work at a car rental place. I advise renters to take note of damage before leaving, and let the exit agent know, or agent, depending on the location. Also, take pics of car. If you take pics of person or video, i believe its illegal? That can get you into a problem later, so i dont advise it. Not sure. But once the car leaves, theres no saying how the damage occured.

I rented a van from one location, the manager didnt check anything at all just looked at broken gas cap he noted then sent me on my way, i return van a week later new location and the guy does a 3 min detective search even climbing almost on top of high roof and found all kinds of damage, both headlights crack with water inside, broken side mirrow, so called roof damage, i didnt do ANYTHING to van ! They already stole my 200$ deposit and said they going to file a claim. Enterprise are a scam and needs shut down asap !

Enterprise is making false accusation of vehicle damages. Do not rent from Enterpise. I currently have that issue. I will make it my life goal to paste this all over the internet.
Should've used that phone camera to document those damages and brought it up with them before signing off on that vehicle...recording it later won't do you justice.
And this is why AAA rate are so high, they charge your insurance carrier for damages. Always scan your rental car with your phone with contract showing date, employee and time. Also, make sure they wash and dry vehicle (sometimes damage may appear as dirt until cleaned) oh and never inspect in the dark or at night.

A lot of people can’t follow the logic. No document shows any damages for the truck, but they are aware of preexisting scratches (which should still have been documented even if they aren’t worried…at least for the size in this scenario…yes even the door handle). If those aren’t documented then you cannot unequivocally say the rear puncture did not exist…especially if you didn’t rent it out. We used to follow rules so this never happened to us. Document, document, document and you don’t have to argue, but they admitted to their own flaw and encouraged this encounter.
I used to work for them, they get so mad if you don't purchase their damage waiver and will try to rape you with charges! That's how they get promoted. Sketchy ass company

Enterprise employee here. I'm not gonna lie and say "oh, they wouldn't do that" because yes, there's some pieces of shit in the company, but I don't believe at all that they forced you to take it. We get customers all the time that decline cars if the inventory isn't what they want. You have every right as a customer to decline the vehicle. It also helps to take pictures of damage or anything you see, the managers shouldn't stop you (now if this branch did, that's messed up and wrong). I don't think the guys being racist, tho, because people of all different colors would react the way you would, if you were wronged. I'm not trying to change your mind, if you feel that way, that's okay and it's great that you let it be known how you feel, but the evidence in this video just makes you seem like you're complaining and making a big deal out of nothing. If they did end up charging you for damages, then that's totally messed up but if they didn't charge you, take it as a sign that they're crappy people and don't rent from them again. I do apologize if you feel that way, tho and if more ended up happening. A rental car service should make you feel at ease, not make you paranoid.
Definitely misleading the “damages” your pointing out is below the damage evaluator thus it not being damage but the puncture of the rear bumper is; when you did the initial walk around you should have video tapped the walk around in case it was there. A person who has never seen a particular model may not be able to identify what is molding or a dent. Therefore, it is Enterprise Car rental obligation to prove the condition of the vechicles before and after rental. A signed peice of paper does not prove the condition of the vehicle, only photos or videos can do this. Why would Enterprise rent a $30, 000.00 vehicle to a person and take no photos? Its because they already have the vechicles insured and the coverage you pay $30 a day for is all profits and so is any other money they get from you. The "contract" is only an agreement to the terms of the rental. It is illegal to get someone to agree to unknowingly defraud themselves. Bro, the Hertz place near the Denver Airport is bad. My aunt asked for a big SUV but gave us a small one and ended up with a flat so we had to turn all the way around back to rental place to get a different car. We was headed for Kansas too. If they gave her what she asked for, we would have been in Kansas at 11pm but ended up getting to Kansas at 5am.
Enterprise used an almost identical scam on me, charging my credit card and filing a claim against my insurance company. Furthermore, the sent me a bill for administrative charges, citing it was part of the contract. They know full well that many people are in duress when they HAVE TO rent a car and they take advantage, sometimes to an extreme, when the opportunity presents itself.
Sue them in small claims court. You will win. Enterprise is really an insurance company. All the cars are already insured. They are just collecting extra money from you.
