This is not good and I don't usually like making these kinds of videos, but sometimes these things happen and I have known it to cause people to give up the hobby. I need to show all the ups AND the downs. Bummer as I said in the video because any animal that dies under your watch is horrid, but we pick ourselves up, learn and move on!

That sucks, hard to know what it was. Did you check the pH and nitrate aswell? I recently lost my breeding pair of German blue rams because my tap water had a pH of 9+ when normally my tap waters pH is around 7.5-7.8. So when I did a water change they both started breathing very heavily then the next day died. :/ Maybe the same thing happened to you? Might be worth checking the pH of the water next time

Hey Md im a vet nurse and sometimes when we medicate for certain parasites, the parasites have attached to the organs in the fish already by the time we do treatment. Therefore the medication helps to paralyze and kill the parasites, but in doing so they usually detach from the organs and cause massive bleeding internally, so all the fish basically go into cardiac arrest. @@queenleprechaun1443 I would say it’s usually not the pet stores problem & the mungrel ones tend to die off as fry, livebearers are natural inter breeders it doesent tend to cause many issues when from breeders and even in your own tank . they only tend to last 2 years depending on tank temperature (hotter and they don’t last as long ) and are sensitive to oxygen deficiency/ CO2 overdose and water parameters being off over a long time . If you don’t have the full nitrogen cycle bacteria in your tank you may aswell write them off right away. First thing to learn is that we are always learning & getting better. It’s so easy to Forget that the water and the bacteria is your pet too; kill that bacteria and the fish would be better off elsewhere.

When you move any tools from one tank to another it is a good idea to clean it off first. I don't think this is what caused it and it is probably fine but since there is a chance it could cause future problems if any tank had a disease you didn't notice in time and since you educate others it is always a good idea.

Sometimes medication can end up killing the fish even if you put the right amount in this is most likely because of lack of oxygen the chemicals in the medication effect the amount of oxygen so next time I would suggest adding an air stone to increase the oxygen in the tank. what I would recommend next time is if you have any die take all the fish out and put them in a quarantine tank but if you can't then get a bag of carbon and hope that it can clear all of the toxins in the water.

I have been keeping all kinds of nano rasboras for years and I can tell you that stress is still the number one reason gets you fish killed. Moving the tank can cause stree as well as strong light and medication, just imagine when you combine these factors together. I made the same mistake before and I don't want anyone repeat my mistake again. Mosquito rasboras don't like strong light and they should be kept in large schools of at least 10 or more to reduce stress.

Mate, it's tough to go thru something like this. I have a 55 gallon, i have had a ton of heartache throughout my 2 years of learning. After several tank crashes, and talking in depth with several other aquarists, i realized my ph was snapping and killing fish overnight. Make sure you have a little salt, and a ph stabilizer, i have had much less heartache since.

We know it isn't anything you did so as unfortunate as this is, you help the rest of us to be able not to give up.

A lot of places, independent and chain, often get fish supplied through the same fish breeders/wholesalers. I've had the same problems with certain fish over the years and I've bought from a local chain store that are really good as well as my favourite independent store. Fish have died for no reason and we can only surmise that it was a bad batch of fish that weren't going to last. Unfortunately, it seems to happen to more of the smaller fish such as rasboras and tetras but does happen to larger fish too

Sorry for your loss mate. Never fun loosing fish. I recently lost my 3 year old oscar due to illness. I did everything i could to save him. Daily water changes, medication, hospital tank with only a sponge filter etc. Still lost him. My advice would be chuck everything in that tank. If water parameters were fine then it could only be desease. Not worth risking more fish from contaminated plants and substrate and sponge filter

I just remember reading on the back of fairy liquid a while back: that it is toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects'.. which has always made me really scared to even wash my tray that I lay plants on with fairy liquid.. I don't know how toxic it is though.. Might that have been used in the tank at some point? It's a long shot and sure you haven't, but just thought it was worth a mention

Hey fella, Please don’t use tacky thumbnails like The King of DIY and his channel. It’s my pet peeve about RU-vidrs that make content with living animals / their pets. That there’s always a tacky “DEAD” title and thumbnail to dramatise something. I just think it’s in bad taste. Please just consider this as constructive criticism rather than me having a go. I unsubscribed from The King of DIY and subscribed to this channel solely because of this issue and me preferring your style of doing things.

Videos like this are good. There are upsetting parts of the hobby and it's important to show that. Death is part of fishkeeping and sometimes you just don't know what did it. Probably some disease you couldn't see to know it needed treatment, it just happens. I've always had a bit of die off with little guys. Nanos often seem quite fragile in my experience. Luckily I've never had a whole batch go.

Sometimes after you cure for ich the parasite dies but the open wound can cause a secondary fungal/bacterial infection. Whenever I treat for ich I follow through with a couple doses of tri-sulfa or a myacin based antibiotic to prevent the secondary infection. Ich is semi-translucent but when you have a secondary infection it looks like ich from afar but examine it closely and it is a whiter spot and that is the telltale sign of fungal or bacterial infection.

Seeing this video is oddly comforting to me. I recently had 11 fish of mine, including some fish ive had for years without any issues, die and I couldn't for the life of me find out why. The only fish I have remaining is a large pleco ive had for a few years. It was heartwrenching because i was very attached to them. The pleco is perfectly fine and didn't show any signs of distress or illness while all the others died. But anyway, its reassuring to see that even experienced fish keepers have losses they cant explain. Videos like these are important.
