Entry Level Garage Audio Setup: The New Bluesound POWERNODE Edge - Is This The Perfect Setup?

I really wanted to test out this setup for the garage. I had a sneaking suspicion that for under $1,000 bucks this could be just about perfect, and I think it's close. This is much more practical for the 23 year-old Matt. I absolutely think a set of speakers and a nice amplifier makes for a much more enjoyable experience in the garage.

Another option that might give more amplitude or room filling sound is edge,p3,SB1000. But lol! It’s so hard with audio. You just want to keep stepping up to the next level for a bit more. I think that’s why it’s so addictive. Especially for people that watch this channel, we are all wired the same or at least similar lol! Garage audio is the best!

The sub won't give up more output, just more bottom end. I think most people in most areas will have ample output with this set-up. In this large garage, I would just want more at times.

@@ObsessedGarage it can give a sense of more output, you can sometimes turn your bass down on the speakers with a sub, allowing the speakers to play louder without distortion. But if ran flat than no difference.

I held out for a while and only used BluOS, then a dealer said I should look at Roon. Last year I tried the one week test drive and then went all in on Roon and it is very nice.

Been rocking my P3s with a 30W/channel AVR and they sound so darn good. I think it’s time to upgrade to the Bluesound.

I’m stuck with a Bose Soundlink Revolve + because the garage is a mess and it’s not mine. Maybe one day I’ll have my own…Take a look at Speaker Snap banana plugs. They work well for me but I’m not sure if they would be considered high end.

Currently watching this on my crappy Vizio 75 in and through my Sonos Arc surround system. Lol. Love it though, wish I could stomach the cost of switching from all my Sonos stuff.

Heard this one not that long ago actually. I think audiolab edged this one out but this is still a good unit. Just kept it simple and setup Sonos amp in garage since I already had some speakers that were replaced already.

Hey Matt, first I really love all of your videos ;) how much better is the P5/Powernode combination compared to the AM5? I have the Klipsch Fives now, is it a real improvement?

You'll get about 35% more output from the PowerNode/P5 combo. I feel as though I hit the limit of the AM5 pretty easily, but the P5 combo will play louder than you can stand. These are much less bright than your Klipsch.

I don't think you'd like Edge over the Klipsch. That soundbar is super efficient and has tons of output. I think you'd need to go to Powernode and PSB P5 to like the improvement.

I think it would be valuable to get a real audio testing setup and upload frequency response charts recorded from a neutral spot in the garage of all these systems just to get an idea of the sound reproduction in this environment.

Those tests are largely nonsense. No one wants to actually listen to a speaker with a flat frequency response. The character of a speaker is what makes it special, not a robot tuned device.

So if I use this set up in the house instead of a soundbar its a huge upgrade and totally noticeable.

It depends on the Soundbar. This would be likely be better for music, but could do some double duty as TV speakers. Something like a Sennheiser Ambeo would be much better than this set-up if the main purpose was watching TV.

Not easily. You could use HDMI, but it won’t control it well. You’d want NAD 3045

@@ObsessedGarage we can disagree with that. Your title is talking about entry level yet you’re talking about $800 speakers. You can get an entry level garage set up with amp and receiver for under $500 that sounds great.
