Look at this guy over here, bragging about his EXPAAAAAANSIVE N64 collection lol. Good video man. A lot of other people are taking 20 minutes to say what you did in under 5. I think the biggest issue is going to be the price. You can buy the retrotink on the same site for almost $50 less I believe. Still, the footage I've seen looks pretty good.
Same, I'm curious how this will compare. There are so many options out there right now! and yeah, there wasn't much info to talk about. I'm not going to milk you for time lol I just want to talk and deliver some information. Bring up some discussion in the comments and see what people are thinking about this 😎 EXPAAAAAAAAAAANSIVE Dongllection 🍆
@@RewindMike He's just worried about the price, so that'll help. I told him it's better than my cheaper alternative that requires two more things plugged into the wall and introduces potential lag.
This seems cool but I won't be spending over $100 on something like this anytime soon. I'd also have to beef up my N64 collection some to be too excited about it. I started rebuilding my N64 collection a few years ago but didn't get very far. Agreed on Pokemon Snap, awesome game.
The price does make this a hard buy for some. I totally get that. Especially since this is unproven. I'll be following this up soon. I might even have to ask you for a bit of footage lol
It's a little underwhelming. It's 50% more expensive than a RetroTINK yet is compatible with less systems, does not support PAL and only supports S-VIDEO. It's verging on the price of far more advanced upscalers.
It totally is on the price side of a RetroTink2X or an OSSC. They say its an upscaled image. So there is a little bit more going on underneath the hood. It's not just spitting the S-Video image back out.
Hyperkin's products are known to have shoddy quality. For example their n64/snes/gcn hdmi cable has noticably inaccurate colors. Also that their cable only upscales whereas this eon adapter is line-doubling, which ensures it is completely lag free.
I am somehow not so impressed by it. Digitalization of the s video output is not the end all be all solution, RGB and Deblur function is a better solution. The ultra hdmi still reigns supreme.
Good thing I didn't say this was better than the Ultra HDMI! I'm curious if you were watching two videos about the same thing and commented on the wrong one.
@@RewindMike I think Kevtris's Analogue N64 will be the best. Hyperkin will have an HDMI N64, however it's unfortunately emulation based. Also Chris left them and joined the Polymega team.
I've honestly never used an Ultra HDMI or any combination of N64 + Upscalers. So I have no idea what to expect from any of this. I said that in the video. I also mentioned the clone console from Hyperkin and how it probably won't be 100% compatible with the library. Now, I had no idea Kevtris was working on an N64. Last I heard he said it was impossible or something along those lines. No doubt his console will be fantastic if it does come to light!
@@RewindMike I am not so fond of Hyperkin. In the beginning I thought the Retron 5 was so cool. After most people found out that the system does emulation, the system lost its interest for me. FPGA is probably the best or of course the MisTer Project. Read up on that.
