Hey Zeek the reason why the firmware wasn't showing was because I didn't have photography mode on manuel, it was on auto. I know you've probably mentioned it in previous videos, but thanks again
@zeek I have disabled timer for 30 minute limit and have been shooting 1 hour or more content. Also, I use this for streaming with EOS-M. I have done over 400 videos no overheating issues. FYI

I've heard that sometimes raw videos from ML can crash. Is it true? I consider going for this camera as my main one. Is it stable enough (ill be working only on 10bit raw 1080p) for pro work or do I have to worry about loosing some footage?
1080 RAW is stable, the thing is aliasing and moire. But the colours and quality are beautiful, like ARRI. It's continuous RAW, you might come across dropped frames if using monitors, but I haven't had any issues. The camera can take time to get used to, but i use it mostly for hobby shooting.
Hi Zeek, nice tips, professional looking video. I see you have an option in your magic lantern to cancel the 30 minute video recording limit. I have an EOS M, the first model, and I've installed Magic Lantern, but that option does not appear for me. I want to use it for live streaming so would love to turn off the 30 minute limit. Any idea why I don't get that option?
What ML Build are you using? The ones from the website are quite outdated. We use the experimental ones in the respiratory. The link should be in the description. Otherwise take a look at my latest settings for this camera on the channel.
So in HDMI.. for OBS... Do you have to be in Manual Focus..MF... Auto Focus.. Square..Can you turn that off.. and Black Borders.... Any way to remove them....I understand.. might not be able to fix everything on EOS M Camera..Thanks😀
I have never used live streaming with this camera, but I would assume Manual Focus since it's Contrast based AF and hunts. Unless you set it to One Shot AF and half press the shutter within reach. You can enable clear overlays I believe in tab 6/7 from memory and that will remove every graphic from the live view.
zeek. at the 8:48 minute mark your settings display on the 4th wrench the firmware. on mine all i see on the 4th wrench is "displays camera Settings" after that there is nothing its all blank. this camera i have is 2.0.2 also the star on the far right is missing as well. how can i get these settings back? ive been trying for two days no luck thanks allot!!
@zeek I love your videos and it inspired me to buy a canon eos m for light weight film making. at first I installed magic lantern successfully on my eos m. And it worked pretty well for a while. There were some issues with the menus but I thought that it's normal because everything else was working well. Yesterday I had to reinstall firmware 2.0.2 because I had issues with setting up the fps and iso. But since then the camera won't turn on. The green light keeps blinking fast but the camera won't start. not even in the foto menu. The camera is working with out the sd card. But I really need magic lantern. can you maybe help me?
@@ZeekEOSZ Thank you very muchfor your answer! I was on holiday and only had an ipad with an sd-card adapter with me. It seems like the ipad/adapter is not copying the files in the way the eos m can handle them? I tried copying the files multible times but never succeeded. Hello Zeek! Thank you very much for your helpful video. I bought EOS M+22mm+18-55is after watching your video. I got a question. EOS M with magic lantern is very powerful video machine. How do you film at manual focus mode? There is gimbal like Ronin SC with additional gear makes follow focus possible with wheel. But It's seems little too expensive to me.
If I'm using a gimbal I maintain the same distance with any aperture preferably f2.8 and slower. Manual focus can be hard with AF lenses as it's mostly focus by wire.
Hi Zeek, please i have downloaded and installed magic lantern on my EOS M and i can't find some features or some features in the name custom mode is missing. like the presets
zeek i just bought the eos m and im trying to install ML but when i extract files and put them on my sd card there isnt an option 2 update firmware, am i doing something wrong
@@ZeekEOSZ I was thinking of buying a fast prime lens under 100€ something like ttartisan 35mm f1.4 Should I go for something like that or save up and get viltrox speed booster which is 150€ and look for some other lens like 50mm 1.8 STM which is again 150€ more.
@@pinch-of-salt I'd consider the TTArtisans 17mm F1.4. I've never used it and I've heard it can be soft wide open, but it has intrigued me. I like speedboosters with stabilised zooms like Sigma 17-50 OS or Tamron 17-50, Canon 17-55 IS etc. The 50mm STM is a good choice although might be a little too zoomed.
@@ZeekEOSZ so would you suggest getting AF speedbooster and canon 50 1.8 over cheap lenses like ttartisan 35 1.4, 7artisan 35 1.4, etc. which will give me similar results I guess in terms of bokeh and crop factor?

Hey Zeek, me again, so we got the 2.5k working fine with monitors. Still the problem remains that any transmitters freeze when using ML. Both on the EOS HDMI out or on loop. Other people have luck, say using BENBOX. When I take out the ML SD card, everything works, with it, it won't. Also "regular" cams like the M50, everything works. Any idea what to attempt to fix? it's really important to us and potentially yields the M useless in our scenarios (we need 1-2 remote viewing solution). Thanx. again...
@@ZeekEOSZ doesn't work... same as Ziyun Transmitter. Both work with newer cams/non ML. Just don't get how others make it work. Gotta go through settings with them. Wonder if that capture card idea could yield a solution. Else I could try a professional Transmitter or get a Pocket 4k, which does work. Just wish a shame coz other wise the M results are usable
@@ZeekEOSZ how to get that wirelessly to another display.... anyhow the monitor so far is great, with 2.5hdmi. shame also I can't utilize the Weebill S transmission kit... but since RAW I just can't go back to regular SLR eye cancer.... pro transmission may be the only way. I tested the loop out to a TV set it works. No idea why the BENBOX type things get stuck
Hi Zeek......The EOS M is finally on the way from MPB! If I'd like to take stills as well do I need a separate SD card for just photos and another for movies with ML? It seems like taking pics with ML is cumbersome? If I go out to just take pics it'd be nice to operate not using ML. Thanks for your help! Dave

Could you please answer some questions: - what type of flashcards do you use for eos m /eos m50 / eos 5dmk2 for MLV-recording? - as I understand from other videos, but maybe I'm wrong, you use m50 as the main youtube blog camera? - do you use MLV recording for youtube blog?
I use SanDisk Extreme PRO for all of them. I don't use the M50 as much now, I used to use EOS M RAW to record myself, not recently though, I wouldn't mind doing it again.
setting INFO_switch under gain in customized buttons doesn't do what you said at 5:30. It actually makes the INFO. button toggle between the up/down buttons changing ISO, and up/down changing aperture.
That's because you selected info switch from "gain" which changes aperture/Iso, you need to select it from the bottom of that sub-tab, labelled "info selectable" to change between real time and framing.

Hi Zeek It allows me to turn off exposure sim of photo more but I can’t turn of Exposure sim in movie mode. The setting is there. It shows the word ‘movie’ on the right side of it, and when I click on the screen it doesn't allow me to click on or off. So the screen is dark.
hi Zeek, just wanted to say thanks for these videos. I wanted something decent but cheap for video and sometimes replace photos and you’re videos made me purchase my own eos m. I never liked the camera on it’s own but having played with ML on my previous 5DMKII, I’m really really excited to receive my eos m and try this out. Keep the videos coming!
Only way I can get it working normally is disabling any custom buttons, I only use the info button to switch between view modes and the centre button for x3 crop. also sometimes can't set it if exposure lock is on.
Love the tutorals zeek keep em coming! My EOS-M adventure has been bringing me to a bunch of C mount lenses. I am almost always using 3x crop mode, but i noticed that sometimes the 3x crop isn't centered and if its a zoom lens the zoom goes down and to the right. I've tried to figure out how to recenter this but can't figure it out...
I forgot to mention, this only happens when doing 48fps slow motion, It sometimes is centered and sometimes isn't, not sure what i'm doing that would change this...
If you could post it to the EOS M ML Forum, with sample photos of how it looks decentered in that mode, then hopefully someone should help with that. It could be because of the stretched live view in the SlowMo mode which can look quite awkward.
Hey Zeke, you are the guru the EOS M. I'm having some trouble with my menu. I'm afraid I may have ruined it. On the 4th wrench in the menu I only have the "display settings" option. I may have incorrectly removed ML from the SD card and messed it up. Have you experienced this and can it be fixed? Thanks!
If your planning to get custom functions, or update firmware, you need to be in the photo icon at the top of the eos m, as the movie icon does not have the "update firmware"
@@ZeekEOSZ thank you Zeek! unfortunately for me even when it's on the photo icon I'm still only getting the "display options". The rest is gone! After I installed ML I formatted the card and deleted the download from my computer. That's the only thing I can recall that messed me up. Ever seen this before?
@@ZeekEOSZ on the 4th wrench in the EOS M menu there should be a list including what firmware I'm using. But it's not there anymore. Only "displays camera settings". So I'm wondering if I can get the rest of the menu back or if it's gone forever!
In the canon menu reset settings. On top of the EOS M, it won't show in A+, or Movie Mode, just the camera icon in the middle. Send me a photo on my FB if you can.
