Hey buddy, thanks for another awesome video. You definitely deserve a lot more Likes and Subs! I've been mostly working in FCPX - you've inspired me to give Resolve 17 a go. I've also never tried anamorphic mode. 1080p, 2.5K RAW, and 2.8K RAW on the EOS M all give amazing results and I've never used more than these. Time to experiment... Cheers, mate!
Stopping by in August of 2023 and I'm *really glad* to have found this video. I'm brand new to the Canon EOS M and Crop Mood, and so this is exactly what I needed to help me get up to speed without a lot of deep diving. Thanks!
I have a problem , after exporting mlv files there is nothing in the folder ....wtf .....it doesn't matter what codec I'm using the file is not there ...... the whole process runs without problem but after is done there is no file ...can anyone help ????
Thanks so much for this walkthrough! I assume it's impossible to playback raw video on the EOS M, right? Is there a workaround for reviewing playback on the camera itself? Would an external HDMI recorder be the only option? I love the way EOS M footage works but I feel like on-site playback is important in my workflow. Maybe it's just meant to be a more film-like experience. Hard to even imagine the old 35mm days when nothing could be reviewed on set...we are spoiled!
Thanks! Yes, my hope was to give an easy walkthrough of a simple way to edit mlv files and get started with magic lantern and mlv app that doesn’t feel overwhelming.
Thanks so much for this video. I just jumped into the EOS M / ML world and your videos have been very helpful. You did an amazing job going through your workflow this will help me a ton. Cheers.
That’s what DNGs are. Your editing software specifically Davinci resolve takes the folder full of DNG files (photos) and compiles them into one video. Each photo is one frame of the video!
H.265 10 bit 4:2:0 will it give me raw flexibility? Because I want to import to iPad without prores which is not supported , and DNG is not , so I'm left with the h264 and h265 , are these good for grading or is the raw capability lost?
@@rusticagenerica Image processing is multithreaded, but yeah video encoding is single thread. I've heard some people run multiple instances of MLV App at the same time.
Great video. Can you please help me out, when I export to DNG And a Import into this program, it is multiple DNG pics and is not one video file. What am I doing wrong?
The challenge with Magic Lantern is that its a bit of a dead end. You have to buy a used camera, cos it does not support any new cameras, so its such a lot of work to learn, for a workflow that restricts you to using cameras which, will become dated, over time.
But everything will become dated over time, even the latest 6K cameras. In fact the cameras that you need to use for ML were essentially obsolete before ML brought them back to life
