I enjoy seeing videos like this. As an American, who is curious about other places and cultures, it's nice seeing things like this and be in the know. :) Thank you!

FikiNom You're lucky if you're able to travel every four years. The last time I was out of the US was in 2003.

Aww, I understand. Sometimes life takes over. I feel like with things like RU-vid and especially Periscope, we can explore other places from our living rooms. I take advantage of that for sure

Wow 550,000won a month for all that amenities is better than staying at those very tiny shoebox like rooms. Love the video and editing!!

It is a regular apartment haha just a big one that the owner rents out to people :)

How much per month is it to rent out a whole place like the sharehouse shown, and what kind of security deposit would we be looking at?
@manisha8614

are goshiwon cheaper than these?
@chirenydegroot57
@chirenydegroot57 6 лет назад
Manisha goshiwons are always cheaper! They are around 230 dollars but you can find them cheaper :) this will cost you around 500 dollars per month, at least most share houses will cost that much

Depends on what part of NYC you live in. Everyone wants to live in Manhattan which is hella expensive.
@STasugx
@STasugx 9 лет назад
***** In my experience, NY apartments charge you more and give you less in return. My rent in Manhattan which is 3,500/month per person can give me a much better apartment in Houston, TX. San Francisco is even worse. TBH, 500 in Seoul sounds like a dream for that kind of a place...

***** Yup, ridiculous. Isn't it.

In New Zealand we hang our clothes out on the washing line or on portable clothes hanger dryer things as well. It's kinda rare for someone to have a dryer in NZ as well and if you do have one you hardly use it, only last minute like if you need to dry your school uniform in the morning before you go to school. Most people won't get one because of the "it wastes power" idea we have, it just costs to much to run
@matchamei3079
@matchamei3079 8 лет назад
Exactly the same as Australia, dryers aren't commonly used unless necessary because why waste so much money on energy when the great Southern sun can do the same for free? ^^

I'm interested in living in South Korea at some point in my life and I actually wasn't aware of sharehouses, but this looks so lovely and clean. I am a person who really enjoys my own space and privacy a _lot_ which might be a downside, but I'm sure I would overcome that once I lived there for a while. I am just wondering if you pay once your stay is over or beforehand? E.g. If you originally planned to stay at a sharehouse for a while but ended up not really liking it/getting along with housemates and wanting to move out, would you just pay the amount you lived there or the whole price and perhaps get your money back on leaving.

+로라 Also, I believe you pay b the month so- You stay one month, pay one month. Because its a share home, you don't have to pay the first three months rent like you do for renting an apartment.

For everyone wondering, if you go to the "Land" section of Naver, you can find whole apartments (about 1/3rd size of this one) for something like 500 USD/mo with the key money from 5-50k USD in the outer parts of Seoul. In Gyeonggi-do (aka the outer area around Seoul) in cities like Suwon, Ansan, Bucheon etc. you can get it for cheaper. It's just farther away from the central Seoul (but still accessible in about an hour by subway).

Ah! I stumbled upon your videos the other day and kept thinking you reminded me of someone once in awhile, but I couldn't place my finger on it. I finally realized in this video, around like 4 min - it's Emilia Clarke who you make me think of sometimes when you make certain faces! Your videos are great. The DIP blind date videos are top notch. You should go into the gameshow business. While all your videos are great, those in particular are *on point*! Thanks for making videos!

Many smaller apartments in Korea built for single occupants don't have bath tubs due to space issues, but most Korean apartments that are bigger and designed for multiple people in a family, do have bath tubs.

This was super awesome to see Megan because I'm always looking for places to stay between teaching jobs and travelling. Putting down huge deposits and committing for long periods of time isn't always easy but this seems much more affordable and easier. Hostels have been great for me but I'd much prefer this. Shame it is not for guys though :(

its cuz the US has a Crap ton of land. you can build huge houses but in Korea its is tiny, from the top to the bottom of South Korea takes around 5 hours. Me as a Canadian living in South Korea, alot of apt in Korea are usually 25~64 floors

This apartment is almost as big as my house in the U.S.! It is considered a smaller house but if I was renting an apartment of this size and quality for that amount money that would be a good deal. They only time I saw rent similar to this in the U.S. is during college. A group of 4 or 6 would share rent and live in the same house. Since my college was not in the city the properties for rent nearby were pretty large because it was a rural area but the houses did not look this modern.

ChoNunMigookSaram Interesting. But the downside I can think of, if you decide to stay for a long time, is that too many different people will be coming and going. You'll end up with all kinds of weird roomies, and if you get stuck with a bad one then....

Very Simple Formula of "Korean money(Won) vs US dollar" : Just drop 1000 in Korean Money = US dollars 5,000 Won = $5 500,000 Won ( monthly rent payment for a room) = $500 1,000,000 Won = $1,000.
